Comments from a new poster - perhaps a different perspective
Too busy to be troubled by political introspection most of my life, I mainly voted for third parties. All I asked from my government was to stay out of my personal life, represent me politely on the world stage, and provide modest assistance to the gravely afflicted. I even proudly voted for Reagan as a youngster in 1984. Later, I saw little difference in the two major parties and voted for others.

In 2000, I was too busy to vote. Because of their campaigns, I saw little difference in the candidates.

Now, I am filled with hatred toward my government. I ask for little, many need so much more. Yet, time and TIME again, our leaders shun us for their own self-interest. The GOP is completely filled with corruption. Mr. Bush, instead of fulfilling the basic necessities of government, injures humanity and the entire nation repeatedly in the name of corporate profit and their pimps, the lobbyists. While the world is contracting, he abuses all people by imposing a putrid philosophy of corporate profit and unabated nationalism and terrorism.

You all know this - but these sick assholes would scatter the blood of the world for a nickle more in earnings. They evangelize smug superficiality and call it "religion" while spraying the world's forests with deadly poison - both chemical and philosophical.

Efforts to dismantle Social Security whilst promoting "ownership" of bloated assets are a trademark sign of the raping of the working class.

Big Pharma, the banks, and huge agri-business concerns dictate policy now. The stools known as "Christians" unwittingly subsidize this butt-fricking of the average American.

And now, a judge known for his support of this wretched system that has overpowered the helpless American has been hoisted into the air as a "strict Constitutionalist" - apparently so that he can overturn 200 years of case law so that corporate "persons" are rewarded with more public largess.

I now see how fucking smart Ralph Nader was. Back then, he wasn't as intelligent as I thought I was.

I vow to hate the Bush/Cheney assholes forever. Thanks for letting me vent - and if I have violated board rules, please forgive.

4. Welcome, Left Below
As I write, the news is informing us that "bad intelligence" led to the bombing and deaths of 13 people in Pakistan. The target escaped.

The U.S. is a blundering fool, ever so dangerous with billions in weapons that are unleashed on innocent people.

:hi:

I enjoyed your rant-o-vent, with hopes it's a sign that the tide of apathetic voters is turning for the better of the good guys who are more loyal to their country than their party.

8. Welcome, but
to be honest, I don't have a lot of sympathy/empathy for you.

There have always been REAL significant differences between the parties. And 3rd parties have always been a losing strategy, up til now at least.

You may have asked for little, but you certainly didn't have anything more than precious "little" to give, allowing others to shoulder the responsibility of citizenship.

You and millions of others like you have helped get us where we are. Thanks. Thanks a bunch.

And no, it's not all that different a perspective. Not at all. It's tired and old, frankly.

9. Thanks, razzle - but I asked for no one's sympathy
I cast a vote for Kerry in 04, not a bit inspired by him but moreso an anti-Bush vote.

I hold out high hopes for the Dems in future. The GOP is hopeless and corrupt. But the Dems are inept and honest - just give us an inspirational candidate of hope in '08 and it will be a cakewalk!

I am a newcomer to the Dem scene. While I accept criticism for past mistakes, I will stand up for that in which I do believe.

11. The Democrats aren't inept -- they're outnumbered
probably through who knows how many rigged elections. Every branch of government has a Republican majority, yet I do believe that the vast majority of Americans prefer a Democratic leadership.

I appreciate your point of view & heartened that you've recognized the Republicans for what they are.

12. And while you are here, remember that
like their Republinazi counterparts, there are some here who think no criticism of Dem's is to be permitted. As a registered Green, who left the Dem's when Clinton signed the welfare deform act, I have seen it all here. Many years ago, there was a (temporarily) successful attempt to throw all third party dissenters out. I say fuck em and so should you. I have always felt that when people charged with upholding laws are found guilty of breaking them, the punishment should be MORE severe than for lesser folks. This applies to cops, judges, Republinazis AND Dem's. If people aren't willing to hold "our side" to account, They might as well vote for Zell Miller. Stand for what you believe in and fuck em if they don't like it.

I've got your back, and I think Ralph Nader was right. This pisses some people off but I am of an age where what I believe is right is more important than what people find popular. I am willing to call a spade a spade and stand behind it unless proven wrong, which happens, but not often.
Bud

Welcome aboard.

Most here don't believe being rude to newbies is the way to be.

Life is a learning curve, and how you got here or how much time it took matters not to me.

32. Support the candidate that stirs your soul
not any party in general. That is what I have come to.

Whether a shoe-in or a dark horse - I will only support those who truly represent me.

10. Great introduction post. But please don't blame Gore for bush...
Edited on Sat Jan-14-06 07:16 PM by Kahuna
That belongs to the people who let themselves be hoodwinked by bush, the media and Nader. Gore had been doing his part for 20 years. He was the vice president to a great administration for 8 years. What more did you want from him?

13. I have a newfound respect for Al Gore.
I exist in the corporate world, yet I see the self-destruction within it.

It is a backward pyramid scheme. We all boost it in order to inflate our worth.

Net result - the pursuit of profit is the sickness which pervades our economic system. Is this message palatable to middle America?

Not in the long run...

Should I cut 10 salaries in order to achieve a financial goal? The shark-frenzy is worth discussion, my friends....

14. No, you cut taxes for companies with less than 10 employees.
1 Employee = 15% Tax Rate

(Sliding scale in-between)

10 Employees = Full Tax Rate

It shall be called the "Small Business Tax Initiative" because I invented it.

Everyone talks about helping small business, but when will we REALLY do it?

26. and it's not just Bush/Cheney
Edited on Sun Jan-15-06 02:38 AM by ginnyinWI
It's all of the conservatives and neocons. They wouldn't know how to govern effectively, even if they really tried. All they can do is enrich the elite at the expense of the rest of the population.

And the only way to do that is to lie. (That was one part you left out, LB.) They must lie--and lie continuously so that enough people believe them long enough so that they can do their dirty deeds. And when anyone with any authority (like leading Democrats, for example) tells the truth, they are ridiculed and smeared. All to keep up the big lie.

What we as individuals can do is tell the truth as clearly and as often as we can to whoever will listen. One person at a time. The country is getting ready to hear it, finally. One person at time. I know of one who switched parties simply because Katrina was the last straw.
