Joe Lieberman should lead the charge to impeach Bush.
He has actively worked against the interests of the party SO many times, and he owes American democracy a good deed.

His seat is safe in Connecticut. He would alienate only the Republicans who have made him their little butler.

And the cause would be just. Bush has been a disaster.

2. Well, I suppose he SHOULD. But he would probably be more
likely to lead the charge to have him declared President for Life, such is his lap-doggieness to the Republicans.

5. Right. I'm calling for him to act as a member of our party and
to serve American democracy. He would quiet some of the very, very deserved criticism he has received from the liberal blogs, retain his safe seat, and put himself in the history books.

The American people would be the chief beneficiaries.

does owe us CT citizens and the American people. Don't see it happening anytime soon though...

And as far as his seat is concerned, there is a promising candidate that plans to run against him. Okay, a win is a long-shot but he must be feeling the heat when he already announced that if he didn't get the Dem nomination, he would run as an independent.

6. I'm for Weicker or anybody at all to the left of Lieberman but
of course it's not my state. I appreciate your take on it and I hope the candidate you are supporting can win it.

Were Lieberman to lead the charge to impeach Bush, I would give credit where it's due but as many other DUers have indicated, that isn't that likely to happen.

23. I'm for Weicker myself
The candidate's name is Ned Lamont for anybody who's interested. Weicker has stated that he would run only if an anti-war candidate doesn't challenge LIEberman. Weicker also said he still may run if Lamont looks like he's going to loose the primary. I think it's great that we have a choice though; so many incumbents just take it for granted. Thanks, I'm going to work hard as hell for Lamont or Weicker.

7. True -- the Republicans would feel betrayed. But it would
only prove their distrust of "liberals" all along.

Plus, truth be told, I don't care how the Republicans feel. Their current president is shredding the Constitution even as we speak.

8. first of all he is in the senate, and it is the house that has to impeach
but regardless based on his past actions, why would he?

11. You're correct about the house. I said "lead the charge" -- not
-- introduce articles of impeachment. Lieberman's a high-profile talk-show Democrat, and "Democrat" should go in quotation marks.

You are right to imagine he probably won't. I posted because I thought he should.

12. I think Joe likes the buttkissing even more than Dubya.
Maybe on the weekends Bush goes to Crawford to clear brush Joe could sneak in a pro-impeachment announcement.

14. I don't think it's likely either, but my point was that his seat is
safe, his place in history would be assured, the American public would be the ultimate beneficiaries, and the target is richly deserving.

15. Ok by me. Let's let the indictments roll first, though, on DeLay,
Ney, etc. The roster will be cleared a little by that.

19. No, don't do that. We need you here and at the polls next time.
Also, you can urge friends to support Lowell Weicker against Lieberman.

I called for Lieberman to lead the charge here because it's really a no-lose package for him.

He would regain a modest amount of the respect he's lost from liberal activist Democrats; he would lose nothing in his Senate race; his already (undeservedly) high national profile would be enhanced; the debate to challenge a very bad presidency would be enjoined; it would embolden House members to actually undertake the actual articles to impeach the president; it would call Bush's decision-making into legislative question; it would give the hapless press something to DO; and the fact is, Lieberman owes us one.

Holy Joe is one of Bush's capos!

No, Russ Feingold will be the one to filibuster Alito, and he will be condemned by the DLC for doing so.

21. I really respect Feingold. He appears to me to be
of genuine integrity and also very courageous.

Lieberman is more of a big old dog by the fireplace rather than a U.S. Senator. But Lieberman owes us.

25. Not on your fireless cooker. My dreams do not include
Joe Lieberman at all, in any capacity.

They include Mario Cuomo, Robert Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Jr., Bella Abzug, Julian Bond, Bill Moyers, and other good folks like that to run our government.

I'm trying to say that Lieberman owes the party he purports to be a member of, and that he's in a no-lose position to assist here.

and is making big money under *'s war on "terror." Lieberman won't bite the hand that feeds him. Morally bankrupt DINO's who are addicted to corporate cash are ruining this country.
