Dismal days ahead in Iraq
BAGHDAD - Many Iraqis see dismal days ahead in the face of rising violence and the decision by the US administration not to seek further funds for reconstruction.

"It is obvious that the situation is much worse than it used to be," retired Iraqi army General Ahmed Abdul Aziz said. "Can you walk free in the streets? Did you receive your food ration last month? It is essential for most Iraqis to receive the food ration just to feed their families.

"When you go to the hospital, do you find medicines? The answer is no medicines, no services, no sheets or pillows, no beds, no nursing and no ambulances to carry you from your house."
Munaim Abid Hassan, a 22-year-old waitress at the restaurant, said she is working to feed 12 people in her family, since she is the only one with a job.

"We used to love the American people but not anymore," she said. "Hatred is spreading all over now, and everyone wants revenge on them. You are bringing disasters to the people of your own country, not only to Iraqis."

"The Americans destroyed everything in Iraq," Aziz said. "I think every Iraqi should weep all his life over what is going on. Bush should be among the greatest terrorists along with his colleagues in Britain, because they are all criminals who have killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis."

1. I'm sure this is true. We have destroyed the cradle of
civilization. What has given our government the right to do this? Nothing but the say-so of a deranged man and his cohorts. Now it seems that we will be called "disruptors " if we object to this mad policy. Will someone please help us to get our voices heard? We did not want this horrible war, these poor people did not deserve to be attacked and now the government is hinting at further action in Iran. Sometimes I feel we are doomed along with those we are attacking. Yes, I have done all the writing, e-mailing, phone calling and donating that I can. Please, Al Gore, say something tomorrow that will give me hope.

2. Read it and weep...
We have single-handedly (with a little help from the British) and irretrievably destroyed one of the oldest civilizations on earth.

3. Did Bush do this (end reconstruction efforts) to avoid ...
... having to ask Congress for more money in an election year? He wouldn't do that would he?

7. It's great for Smirk
he said last week that anyone who says anything negative about Iraq will be labelled a terrorist, publically and repeatedly. the worse things get over there, the more patriotic Americans he can brand terrorists.
