Laura Bush Backs Domestic Spying Program
Edited on Sun Jan-15-06 09:24 PM by samhsarah

By DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer Sun Jan 15, 2:28 PM ET

ACCRA, Ghana - First lady
Laura Bush said Sunday that the U.S. government is right to eavesdrop on Americans with suspected ties to terrorists, but a top Senate Republican joined a chorus of lawmakers who think domestic spying is on shaky legal ground.

"I think the American people expect the United States government and the president to do what they can to make sure there's not an attack by foreign terrorists," Mrs. Bush said just before landing here to begin a four-day stay in West Africa.

President Bush is concerned that media disclosure of the program will cripple work to foil terrorists, she said. "I think he was worried that it would undermine our efforts by alerting terrorists to what our efforts are," Mrs. Bush said.

Bush's secret order gave the National Security Agency permission to listen in on international phone calls and peek at e-mails between Americans and suspected terrorists.

3. Hey, Laura!
The whole world, terrorists included, know that your beloved hubby couldn't be bothered to heed a presidential briefing memo -- yeah, I think the title was, "Bin Laden Determined to Attack Within the United States."

If he couldn't be bothered to act on that kind of information, do you really think the 'enemy' believes he will act on a ramdom email or telephone call?

Tell your hubby to read a God-damned newspaper once in while -- he might actually LEARN something of value.

5. shrub was spying on people pre 9/11.
Why did the attacks on the world trade center happen? He is an utter failure and should not be president of the United Sates.

6. Hahahahahah! Laura has really poor judgement...why listen to her?
This is a woman who _chose_ to live with W even when he was a drunk. With decisions like that behind her I am supposed to be persuaded by her authoritative understanding?

Laura is a grade school librarian, I assume she knows how to put MY PET GOAT back in the stacks. And she knows how to commit vehicular homocide and get away with it. She's better suited to tell my where to find information on the Bush Crime Family that she is to discuss constitutional issues.
