No Gore on PBS Newshour -- An Hour with NO NEWS!!!
Edited on Mon Jan-16-06 07:34 PM by FULL_METAL_HAT
Can you believe it? Obviously Lehrer is bent some way.

Another example of the failure of the media to act as watchdogs.

Email PBS to let them know we see their cowardice!

Do it for Al! Do it for President Gore.

They can't cover real events and yet they advertise for McDonalds now!

-----

On Edit: here's the transcription:
<Dee Deet-di-dee Dee-Deeeeeeeee>

Good Evening. I'm Jim Lehrer.

On the Newshour Tonight:

The news of this holiday Monday.

Then a look at change at the top in the South American nation of Cheelay, that includes an interview with Elizabeth Farnsworth in Santiago.

A health unit update of startup "snags" in the drug benefit plan.

A Martin Luther King Day conversation with author Taylor Branch.

And a science unit report on the Stardust mission to collect cosmic dust.

Major Funding for the Newshour with Bent Jim Lehrer is provided by: ADM, CIT, and Pacific Life, and was made possible by the Corporation for Public Propaganda Broadcasting and by viewes like YOU!

So its a holiday from REAL NEWS HUH????

PLEASE WRITE THEM AND ASK YOUR FRIENDS TO DO SO --
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO SHAME THE NEWSHOUR!!

Their response form is at http://www.pbs.org/newshour/letters.html or you can email onlinenewshour@newshour.org.

They need to be put ON NOTICE -- ala Colbert! If they don't shape up they'll be getting the bears!! Please K and or R :) since you don't need any foil to see this conspiracy!

1.  You have got to be kidding---I dropped my 20 year long
membership about 6 years ago because of ads on the children's programs.

Chuck E Cheese did it for me!

5. You don't have too
They do a summary of the news at the beginning and then tell you the stories they are going to cover that night. I watched the summary and the list of stories and it wasn't mentioned.

6. Just finished vomitting in my own mouth!
I had left out a slim hope that they'd slip a little thing in on their news wrap up.

Nada.

They need to be shamed today!!

12. Gore's speech is not news.
Unfortunately.

It's being sold as a disgruntled 'has been' trying to grab attention.

Move on, nothing to see here.

(I don't see it that way myself, but that's the impression I'm getting from the
small bit of news that I've seen)

14. They can ignore the event but they can't hide the words, which are
powerful and persuasive. You're right, this is the stupidity of the television press but Gore told us that they would do this in so many words. Its this medium that will make the difference.

13. I'm stunned. I was at the speech. It was an historic event of amazing
proportions. Anyone who reads it will be stunned at the level of duplicity and criminal behavior.

It's time to send the PBS folks a message!

27. I noticed that they kept showing the empty seats in the
auditorium while Gore was giving his speech. It appeared to me that it was about 95% full. Can you give us a run down? Like about how many were there?

After the speech I thought every network in the world would jump on the story. It does indeed appear that we've been overpowered and given the middle finger.

Gore's speech was one of the headline items on BBC TV news in the UK this morning. What's up, PBS?

19. No more pledges to PBS from me
After years of giving them hard-earned money I cannot support them. In NC they put the marvelous program "NOW" on Sundays at 2pm (somethimes it's on at midnight). Also, it used to be on for an hour. I want my country back!

21. Perhaps a better suggestion?
I've heard attaching a note to the payment is the best way to get their attention. If you really put it to them, make it out for ONE PENNY (or one dollar) and attach a note in BIG BLACK LETTERS:

It's viewers like me that support you. Know that we're not blind. We're paying you to be a higher calibre of news analysis.

22. I was surprised and disappointed, but
I'm not going to stop watching the single most informative hour on TV over this one thing! It's my main entree; cable news is my junk food, but PBS sustains me.

For Cspan junkies: think there will be a question concerning presidential power tomorrow morning?

I'm not going to stop watching either, but it wouldn't be a bad idea for you to drop a note too...they will pay attention if enough emails hit them.... :hi:

24. Orson Wells said,
"In Europe, people risked their lives to save their friends. In Hollywood, people turned their friends in to save their swimming pools."

MSM is all Hollywood...NO MORE DONATIONS FOR PBS, NPR. Let them earn their money the good old fashioned way, by interrupting all those British shows with advertising...oh, wait they do that already. They make me

25. I was SHOCKED. But Brian Wiliams did cover it.
NBC covered it briefly, but they showed the money quote. I will be watching Brian William from now on. Ever since Katrina he seems interested in covering the NEWS, unlike his competition. Did the other networks cover it?
