Stop Alito with the Gang of 14!

I don't have time to post this right now. I'm really an Election Reform sort of guy and I'm very very busy with that.

But before I forget, I wanted to post this so that perhaps DUers will start pressuring them to vote against Sammy.

Let's face it: We may not be able to rely on Dems to filibuster. There are always a few defectors. And the Pukes may still use the Nuclear Option.

But the Gang of 14 really can control the whole Senate!

Just as swing states determine who gets to be President, swing votes in the Senate can run the place.

It's time to start a campaign to get the Gang of 14 to stop Alito.

Please keep kicked and all that. Of course this will be most effective if their constituents will apply the pressure.

I have a problem with this scenario though.

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that the Gang of 14 is completely off the table unless and until the Dems decide to fillibuster. That is what the Gang is about -- providing a means to reduce the fillibustering. I can't see the Republicans actually joining the Dems in an up and down vote to vote out Alito -- not at this point anyhow. I heard Spector's running of the questioning, and it sounded to me like he's already decided.

6. Read the Wiki article. It's more than just the filibuster.

They can't vote to change the rules to do away with the filibuster without the gang of 14 either. That means that without them, they don't have 51 votes! So they won't be able to get 51 votes for Alito without them either.
They control the Senate and we are squandering the opportunity by not pressuring them.
