RNC Response to Today's Speech by Al Gore
(If anyone needs a barf bag, please go to the concierge in the lobby)

WASHINGTON, Jan. 16 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following is the RNC response to today's speech by Al Gore:

"Al Gore's incessant need to insert himself in the headline of the day is almost as glaring as his lack of understanding of the threats facing America. While the President works to protect Americans from terrorists, Democrats deliver no solutions of their own, only diatribes laden with inaccuracies and anger." --Tracey Schmitt, RNC Press Secretary

Gore Joins MoveOn.Org In Attacking Administration On Wiretapping:

Former Vice President Al Gore: "(T)he President Of The United States Has Been Breaking The Law Repeatedly And Insistently. A President Who Breaks The Law Is A Threat To The Very Structure Of Our Government." (Fmr. Vice President Al Gore, Address To American Constitution Society And The Liberty Coalition, Washington D.C., 1/16/06)

-- Gore: "(T)he American Values We Hold Most Dear Have Been Placed At Serious Risk By The Unprecedented Claims Of The Administration To A Truly Breathtaking Expansion Of Executive Power." (Fmr. Vice President Al Gore, Address To American Constitution Society And The Liberty Coalition, Washington D.C., 1/16/06)

1. WTF? Where has he been inserting himself in the headline of the day?
Certainly not in any papers I read.

5. Exactly, he's hardly been trying to bring attention to himself since '00.
If anything, he's shunned the limelight. Emerging from time to time
to give a scathing indictment on current events. Hardly anyone seeking
to bring attention to himself. If that were the reason, he could have used language a little more tame.

11. Like the Tell-Tale Heart
It's entirely a product of their imaginations. They remember well that he won in 2000, and it weighs on their consciences.

2. F..k the RNC...
They need to worry about finding lawyers for all of their indicted or under-investigation party members.

9. A real "high profile" Republican rolled out for that laugher.
Edited on Mon Jan-16-06 11:31 PM by Old and In the Way
Probably couldn't find anyone else to say it with a straight face.

Actually, if I close my eyes, I can see Scotty McKlingon saying those exact same words, repeated, ad nauseum, at the next WH Press briefing...

8. As usual, when they have no real answers...
....they go to namecalling and whining. Gore just beat the living hell out of their guy, and with the good wiahes of Bob Barr and other Republicans.....they just can't stand it!

10. This is good news
The fact that they are bothering to respond indicates that they consider him a threat.

Go Gore!

12. What utter crap they spew when the chips are down
As I recall, Gore rescued over 200 patients from a hospital after Katrina. He wanted NO coverage and he damned sure didn't get any.

While Brownie-pants was worried about dinner and his wardrobe, and ** was watching DVDs of the tragedy like a 10-year-old, Gore was actually HELPING AMERICANS! What a concept for these Repukes, who wouldn't help their own grannies out of a paper sack if it might cost them a dime or a bit of their sweat.

Small people will always attack great people. Gore's speech today was a little slow on the uptake, but once he got going it was powerful and showed great concern for this nation. HE is my president, not **.

RNCers can only look at Gore with jealousy, because not one Repuke could ever be a hundredth of the man Gore is.

15. i think of the diatribe by jack nicholson at the end of
a few good men when i read the response of the rnc. in essence, we know what is right for the country and those who disagree are hurting this nation.

16. The beauty of Gore's speech is that it references the underpinnings
of our political system. Many writers justly compare fascist tendencies and faults to the * extremists, but the deepest bloodletting is going on at the taproot. Once that taproot is severed the US will truly begin to understand what "dog eat dog" is all about.

I don't hear many opposition voices carrying Gore's theme, but I was enthralled with the words that needed to be said over and over so many years back. Even Senator Clinton is now becoming emboldened to attack Bush. Time will tell if her words and works are genuinely a departure from corporate politics, or whether she is gaming that Bush is hamstrung enough to start biting because her corpo backers wish it to be so.

17. What is the truth about Clinton/Gore spying on Americans?
While this shouldn't matter (if Clinton did it he was breaking the law too) I'm sure the GOP statement is far from the truth. What's the real story? I know somebody posted it last week.

18. They have attempted to undermine Gore since the elections
They painted him as crazy, wacky, wild in an attempt to disable his power just as they attempted to label Clinton. I have read the responses that mimic the RNC talking points by the media and the lemmings who simply regurgitate whatever they are told by their leaders. It is a shame, as his service to our country is distinguished.

21. Earth to Tracey Schmitt
There was absolutely no mention whatsoever of Al Gore's speech in my local paper today let alone a headline. If anybody should be outraged by that fact it should be me rather than the RNC.
