I live on San Francisco Bay in one of the bluest towns (Tiburon, pop. 8,600, in the county of Marin) in the country.
Our little town is full of eclectic shops, restaurants, and cafes.
We do, however, have one food joint where one can always count on running into a bunch of extremely over-fed conservative regulars. This place actually bills itself as an "Adult Daycare Center". No kidding.
Well, today the topics of conversation were NFL playoffs and Alito.
The air was thick with snide remarks about Dems:
"spineless idiots"
"Specter had 'em snookered"
"mean personal attacks"
etc.
Then came the vote predictions.
"I bet he sweeps the Senate"
"No way our two (Feinstein and Boxer) will vote for him.
"yeah, you're probably right. Fuck'em, who needs their vote?"
"We don't want their shit"
"I'm saying he takes the Senate 48 to 2"
"Hell yeah, that would show their asses"
FORTY EIGHT TO TWO?

so just curious, i'm just an hour up the road from you.. i don't hang out public watering holes, (maybe i should) so i don't get the "pulse" of adult day care centers - do ya dare take issue with them? did you even set the record straight? I know it's hard to argue that the Dems have spine, we argue that point - but on the substanative issues, like this nominee and wire tapping - what do they say in response?

I like to eat a really bad cheeseburger every once in a while. If I got into it publicly with these guys I would find myself officially unwelcomed.
They think I'm a little looney just for bringing a NYTimes for lunch.
This is the 'pubs little sanctuary here and I respect that.
Now if it had been the grocery store....
If you ever get down this way let me know.
