Conservative Response to the 'Sisters' Post.... |
|
Yesterday I forwarded a post I found here on the DU that talked about conservative and liberal women being sisters who might disagree in some ways, but who were closer than we realize. It talked about the current administration dividing us in a civil war just as surely as the country was divided during the actual Civil War. I found it well written and the sentiment impressed me, so I sent it to several women friend of mine, duly noting that it was a post on the DU. My friend Tracy sent it to her liberal mother and conservative father and this was his response:
>>I agree with almost everything in this document except one. This current
uncivil war pitting Red States against Blue States, Democrat against Republican DID NOT start with the current administration. It was in full
swing during the Clinton administration and maybe even before 1992. But somewhere in the late 80's or early 90's the art of compromise was abandoned by both parties in favor of constant aggression against anyone that disagreed with him or her. It will eventually resolve itself or we will become a weak, divided country. But I don't know of a prominent Republican or Democrat that comes close to the stature of Harry Truman, Franklin Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson or Ronald Reagan. We desperately need a strong
leader to step forward, not another of the ilk of Bush, Kerry, Dean or Edwards. They all campaigned alike, pushing the obvious hot buttons at every turn - abortion, gay marriage, religion. The only reason Bush won the election is that a slim majority in this country feels that we have gone
tooooooooo far to the left. Any Democrat that would abandon the far left
could have easily beaten Bush. He is strongly supported by a small minority, probably less than 10%.
Love,
Dad<<
I asked her to find out which news station he watches. His letter sounds to me like it could have been dictated from a desk at FOXnews.

2. I am in dialogues with Bushistas on a different forum... |
|
It's a healthy life-style type community, for diabetics & their families (my 13 year old son has Type I) & they have a bunch of different rooms, I hang in the Politics Forum, where "They" wanna NUKE Iran. Just level the place. I wanna copy/paste some of the stuff....it'd make your hair stand on end...
What catches my eye in the Dad dude's reply is this:
"Harry Truman, Franklin Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson or Ronald Reagan"
RONALD REAGAN? LOL!

3. The thing that got me was his 'hot buttons' list.. |
|
Where he mentions that Kerry, Dean, Edwards and Bush were pushing the hot buttons of 'religion, abortion, gay marriage'. I wrote Tracy and asked her to at least PLEASE tell her father that those buttons were NOT being pushed by Dems.
