By 1967, King had become the country's most prominent opponent of the Vietnam War, a year to the day before he was murdered -- King called the United States "the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today."

Time magazine called the speech "demagogic slander that sounded like a script for Radio Hanoi," and the Washington Post declared that King had "diminished his usefulness to his cause, his country, his people."

3. The right wing media have so sanitized MLK's message

that most Americans today only think he said one thing: "I have a dream"--which has been misconstrued and perverted to mean "This is America, you can be anything you want." In any words, a reiteration of the right wing individualist credo.

In actuality, King wanted profound societal and structural change, and that's when he became too dangerous to be allowed to live.

all about. In reality MLK did more for the white race than is indeed realized today.
