A Proposal for effective action to stop Alito |

A Proposal for effective action to stop Alito.
1. National talk radio shows like Alan Combs, Ed Shultz, and Randi Rhodes each have millions of listeners a day. 2. Unlike LTTRs or writing TV/cable outlets asking the media to allow us a forum or for coverage of our concerns with the Alito nominations, we can call these shows and get direct unfiltered access to millions of Americans daily. 3. Three main talking points. (A) Alito is bad for America (B) Democrats must filibuster <C>. How listeners can help stop Alito and help support a filibuster. I suggest we organize to have one main point per caller. These points will re-enforce each other and all three points need to be repeated by multiple callers. 4. Twenty or so dedicated folks each spending a couple of hours a day could get this message out to tens of millions of Americans daily for the next week and a half. This is the most efficient way to generate LTTEs, calls and e-mails to Dem Senators, (all Senators for that matter) and raise public awareness and action on stopping Alito. 5. We need a call list of all applicable National or Major Market shows and the times the show is live on air. The criteria for a "good" talk show to call is (a) Biggest audiences (b) The show will put liberal callers on the air.
Here are three of the big audience radio shows that allow progressives call-in air time. There are lots more. Alan Combs show LIVE 10PM - 1AM (EST) Mon - Fri 1-877-367-2526 Ed Schultz show LIVE 3PM to 6PM (EST). Monday-Friday 1-877-934-6833 Rhandi Rhodes LIVE (3-7pm ET) Mon-Fri 1-866 303-2270
The key is to call right at the beginning of the show or very early in the show so you can get on the air.
Turn off your radio and listen on the phone. Be prepared to wait to get on. Have a plan of which of the 3 main talking points you are going to address and stick to that point Keep it short and simple.
Anyone interested in this effort please reply here or IM me. Thanks!

1. Isn't this 'preaching to the choir'? |

The only way to stop the appointment of Alito in the unlikely event of a filibuster is to convince at least 6 Republican Senators not to allow a rule change. How do we do that.

call their Senators and ask them to stop the nomination.
It Takes a 3/4 vote of the Senate to change Senate rules.
People like politicians who stand up for what's right. Regardless of the odds.
However, I think a filibuster is likely. Why would the Dems delay a vote and look weak for longer? If a fight is unlikely, why not just get the vote behind them as quickly as possible?
We need to make the Republicans try to change the rules in the middle of the game. That is sure to make them appear like the honest, uncorrupt non-cheaters they aren't.
Have you ever listened to the Alan Combs radio show? I assure you, if you call in there, you not be only preaching to the choir.
