Filibuster Alito: Call Harry, Chuck, Diane, and all your Sens: 18004268073
Call em now folks. Lines are busy and the opposition is working hard. Believe me that just because your Sen is a Repub, that doesn't mean you don't call. Demand filibuster. Let them hear you.

1. I called both of mine
in Indiana that's Lugar and Bayh.

I told Lugar's office that I understood that a vote against Alito would be tough given party loyalty but that loyalty to country was more important.

I also focused on Alito's lie to the former committee about recusal and his endless string of excuses during this round of hearings. I said it showed a lack of honesty and integrity which are critical attributes for a lifetime appointment.

And I gave my name.

Call your Republican Senators. You are their constituents too.

3. I just called and spoke with Wyden's office.
Edited on Wed Jan-18-06 12:59 PM by Straight Shooter
A very courteous staffer took the call. He informed me that Wyden had not yet made a decision. :eyes:

So, I told him that I wanted Wyden to do whatever it takes to keep Alito off the Supreme Court, including filibuster.

The staffer thanked me and asked me for my zip code, which I gave him. (I'm in Oregon; Wyden's my Senator.) He then proceeded to end the call and I said, "Wait a minute, please. One more thing: Tell Senator Wyden that if he supports Alito, I will no longer support him."

Thanks for this number, feelthebreeze.

edit: correction of OP name. I called Smith's office, too. "He hasn't made a decision," said the staffer. No doubt to prevent an onslaught of angry calls. I know where Smith stands, Mr. Corporate himself.

2. Just called Ben Nelson's Office
Edited on Wed Jan-18-06 12:55 PM by Proud_Lefty
Staffer was nice, but confirmed that Mr. Nelson is voting for Judge Alito's confirmation. How about everyone sending Mr. Nelson the want ads? Think he'll get the message?
