Is Hillary REALLY a shoe-in for the 2008 Democratic nomination?
I certainly hope not, but I also don't see it. The polls, showing her ahead, probably just reflect name recognition, and even so it doesn't seem like she has the nomination wrapped up. Am I missing something here?

1. In 2006, NO ONE is a shoe-in for 2008 (n/t)

2. Of course not.
A lot can, and certainly will, happen between now and then. Right now she is better-known than just about any other potential candidate, and that's about it.

5. That's what I think. But of course the media spin is that she has it
sewn up. Seems they WANT her to be the nom. That reinforces my opinion that she shouldn't have it.

3. Nobody is a shoe in for a nomination that's over 2 years away.
And I'm not that impressed by anyone running, so far. Or at least not the ones we have been "told" are running.

Edited on Wed Jan-18-06 08:14 PM by rocknation
she's got the Repubs nervous enough to be making noises about Condi running. And I recently heard Rush Limbaugh ask, "What REAL man would vote for Hilary?"

14. I reallly want to see a list of her donors.
The last I heard is she is planning to have about a hundred million by 2007.

This is like old time insider politics. Why bother with the primaries? And the heck with the grassroots.

19. Touche!
Bill Clinton is one hell of a fundraiser. I wouldn't be surprise if this was his meo cuphea after Monica. Bill owes Hilliary a bunch after this fiasco, his pay back is getting her elected

23. Do you have any idea how expensive NY Senate races are?
and she has been raising money for 06 candidates.

When the CORRUPT REPUBLICANS want to change the subject from their criminal enterprise, they direct the media to talk about Hillary. Why, of why is any Democrat even listening. Democrats should be accepting talk show and media interviews about Hillary and instead talk about CORRUPT REPUBLICANS and the ideas of the great 06 candidates we have. Will we ever learn to use this crap against them?

GOT MEDICARE?

9. Remember how Dean was our 2004 nominee?
:eyes:

The polls now are useless. Like you said, it's 100% name recognition at this point.

11. The Republican Spin Machine seems to think so.
She has been targeted early and often on right-wing radio. If they get to choose the candidate to run against, it will be Hillary, IMHO.

13. I wish she was...but at this point no one is...
She is in a very good position, and would be considered the front runner were the election happening this year. But political history is too full of examples where the front runner was not the ultimate victor.

HillDem is right about Morris's book. Fascinating, but pieces of crap.

21. She has the best chance for one reason only-->Bill is a heckuva good
campaigner! And the Clintons are very good at procuring campaign
cash. I can't think of any democrat who can beat Bill
Clinton in campaigning prowess and Bill wants to spend some
time in the White House.

24. Afraid so.
It's all name recognition. About 90% of Democratic voters won't follow the primaries until New Hampshire AT THE EARLIEST, and by then it's pretty much a done deal.

25. Nope, that is why the RW is pushing her so hard.
For whatever reason, it is not her time, and they know it.
I don't have anything personally against her, but the fact that they keep saying she is
the front runner should make you pause in thought.
