Parshall Calls Gay Adoption "State Sanctioned Child Abuse" on Larry King
http://mediamatters.org/items/200601190001

During the January 17 edition of CNN's Larry King Live -- dedicated to a discussion about the implications of "the buzz around" award-winning film Brokeback Mountain (Focus Features, 2005) -- radio host Janet Parshall referred to the adoption of children by same-sex couples as "state-sanctioned child abuse" and implied that the "lifestyle" of Matthew Shepard, a gay man, was partly to blame for his 1998 murder.

Opining on gay marriage, Parshall called it a "pretend family," arguing that "God himself" defined marriage as a union between one man and one woman, and that "everything else is a fraudulent misrepresentation." She then asserted that allowing a gay couple to adopt constituted "state-sanctioned child abuse because you've purposely taken away either a momma or a daddy, and mom and dad are both necessary in a child's life."

Speaking about Shepard's death -- the result of severe injuries sustained during a violent beating at the hands of two men who, purportedly claiming to be gay, lured him from a campus bar at the University of Wyoming -- Parshall first asserted that she was not offering "a justification of what happened, because it was wrong, wrong, and wrong;" nonetheless, she suggested that "there's a lot of questions about his background," and asked, "as he looking for trouble in all the wrong places?"

Parshall also told host Larry King that she was not at all surprised at the "buzz" surrounding Brokeback Mountain because "what we're witnessing, Larry, is the homosexualizing of America."

2. How are these freaks getting off FOX and on CNN?
I could see them moving between FOX and The 700 Club, but can't CNN try to be a little more professional?

3. Would CNN have racists and anti semites on their shows?
And give them a platform to spew their bigotry?

Glenn Beck makes move to CNN

<snip>

Controversial radio talk show host, Glenn Beck, who once called victims of Hurricane Katrina "scumbags," is now moving to television with his own show on CNN Headline News. "Glenn Beck," will be a new talk show in prime time beginning in April, the 24-hour cable network news announced Tuesday. The daily show will examine the day's topics and world news as well as politics and popular culture. Beck currently is heard on nearly 200 radio stations nationwide including in Utah on KNRS 570 AM Monday through Friday from 9-10 a.m. and 4-7 p.m. His is the third-highest rated national radio talk show among adults 25 to 54, according to Premiere Research/Arbitron. Liberal media watchdog group Media Matters has expressed concern about Beck's new show, listing statements he has made in the past about approval of torture of Iraqi prisoners, his hatred for family members of 9/11 victims, and families who refused to leave their homes during Katrina. "And that's all we're hearing about, are the people in New Orleans," the Media Matters' Web site notes Beck as once saying. "Those are the only ones that we're seeing on television are the scumbags."

5. Those freaks should go work for CPS and see the real cases of
horrible, insidious child abuse committed almost 99.99% of the time by heterosexual men and women.

7. This Parshall woman is cold, cruel, and filled with hate.
I wasnt familiar with her previously, but on Larry just the mean tone of her voice and her pompousness set me to itching. A young girl called in to say that she had a gay dad and turned out fine, thank you. Parshall ignored the positive and went for the jugular, telling the girl that could not be, asked where the other dad was (did he run out?), and implied that even if hetero parents were divorced druggies and murderers that would be better than having a gay parent. She is way beyond Dr. Laura. What an evil bitch!

8. I watched it.........
and I still couldn't believe it.

What in the name of all that's holy is happening in the US?

I have a running argument on another board with a man who calls me a "terrorist sympathizer" because I said the war in Iraq was a war of choice and against international law. This woman gets on the TV and starts spewing what is, to me, hatred and bigotry....and just idiotic to boot. I don't know anyone who claims that their sexuality was a "choice". Mrs. Clinton gets called names because she points out that congress isn't functioning, and Bush is still talking about 9/11 and terrorism as a cause for the "war".......which isn't a war, but an occupation.

We are now getting some of the same tactics here, with the current conservative party, and it scares me witless.

14. Since this is the kind of thing half of Amerikkka wants to see,
how much longer before we can get state executions on pay-per-view?

Or a reality show where hunters track and kill human prey?
