Dean leaves no doubt on his views on Alito...from Ohio yesterday.
From Renee in Ohio...who was in Columbus yesterday at the Democracy Bond hearing. He leaves no doubt where he stands.

"By the way, here is Howard's response when a member of the audience yesterday asked what we should be doing to oppose the Alito being confirmed as a Supreme Court Justice:

"I would write your senator. I don't believe Judge Alito belongs on the bench for the reasons I wrote in my articles on the web site. And I think you need to speak with your Democratic senators, including Democratic presidential hopefuls, about doing whatever is necessary to make sure he doesn't get on the bench. He does not represent the mainstream in American political thinking, nor does he represent the mainstream of our values."

Thanks for sharing this, Renee.

Here is the part of the DNC website he referred to in that statement.

http://www.democrats.org/a/national/civil_rights/judicial_appointments/supreme_court/

These pages are very well-researched and leave no doubt either.

From Columbus.

but had to get back home and miss the "Democracy Bond Party". We had a bit of a storm the night before and one of the nurses I was with had to go to work for at least 1/2 a shift. I did get to talk with friends who were going to the afternoon event. This is a real busy year for me from the get-go here in Ohio!!!!!!!! Every week a Party-Fundraiser or setting one up.......etc, etc, etc....til November!!!!!!! :wow:

I was to the left of the podium facing the "stars"......I didn't see me in any of them....maybe next time. The front row consists of Chris Redfern, Ohio Dem Chair, Joyce Beatty the House Minority Leader and C.J Prentiss the Senate Minority Leader and of course the big cheese himself, DNC Chairman, Howard Dean. The little guy to the left of one of the pics is Rep. Dan Stewart....he is terrific and then Senator Marc Dan to the far right of the pic. Marc Dann has been exceptionally detailed with exposing the Noe Coingate Crimes! Here is a link to his sites.

14. Wow...Dann has a great blog. Very well done.
Sounds like Ohio Democrats are getting on the ball. I wish I knew what our Florida Democrats were doing ......and so do my friends who are committeemen and women. Our leaders here play it close to the vest...too close IMHO. We need to change that.

I hear Navarro is doing a great job, and I hear fundraising is up.

3. Damn, he looks good in that photo, eh?
I called my senators and a bunch more. The ones that I tried to call, and couldn't get through because the phone was busy, I e-mailed (I don't have a fax machine) and the thing that I stressed is that IMO anyone who espouses the "theory" of a unitary executive shouldn't sit on any court, but especially not the SCOTUS. This theory is in direct conflict with the Constitution. When I called Biden's office the gent who answered the phone kept me on the phone for a while and during the course of the conversation I did ask, "Where are the moderate or sane republicans? They should be very upset at this very notion!" He agreed.

Alito has no business on the SCOTUS and I'm glad that Chairman Dean said as much.

9. Thanks, and I do have a question about this. Will it only fax my senators
or is there a way to use this to fax senators in other states? That would save some time if there is a way to do it without having to look up the zip codes of the senators in each state. But I'm willing to look up zip codes if it will take them (with my name in the header) as I am a member of PFAW and it holds my info. for any action/petition that they circulate.

Do you know?

13. I am not sure - my guess it that it sends them just to your Senators.
If you look up zip codes for states of key senators - maybe you could post them in this thread:

Here, by the way, are names/phones/dc addresses of Gang of 14 and of Red State/Blue State Senators:

4. More from yesterday
Thanks for posting this here. I haven't had a lot of time to write up yesterday's events due to my work schedule, but I've been adding bits and pieces when I can. The whole speech yesterday was quite good.

They are so on the ball about everything.

Her translations are wonderful things. I am so proud to hear Howard Dean speak clearly on this.

11. Yes, you should! Faxing is fun!
PFAW is providing the free faxing because letters can be more effective than phone calls and faxes are instant letters. PFAW *wants* you to use that service - especially if you can do it evening/night/weekend - it shouldn't compete with anyone else getting through.

Ask yourself: What are the GOP footsoldiers doing? Calling once a day for 3 weeks! :grr:

Alito and CAP: No One Believes Him
Posted by Tim Tagaris on January 10, 2006 at 03:07 PM

Chris Bowers and I patrolled the interview area during the break and asked the thoughts of several advocacy group leaders and one United States Senator on Samuel Alito's forgetfullness regarding his involvement with the Concerned Alumni of Princeton.

"Do you believe Judge Alito is telling the truth about his association with Concerned Alumni for Princeton?"

Ralph Neas of People for the American Way said that Alito's response to this line of questioning was "not credible." He added that he remembered was organizations he was a member of in the 1980's.

Nan Aron of the Alliance for Justice said that it is "hard to know what to believe" and she asked "how do you forget" being a member of an organization for eight or nine years. I had a simple response to this question that generated laughs among the people around me: "because he's lying."

Durbin and video clip
"I couldnt understand his answer. That they removed ROTC was the reason he belonged to this organization? I mean, it totally did not follow. I mean the only the thing you can argue is that somehow or another women and minorities were opposed to to ROTC. I mean, I can't, I don't understand it, and I'm going to ask him if I get chance. It just made no sense to me."
