Democratic spokesmen who should be retired
There is nothing I despise more (other than Bush) than turning on CNN or MSNBC and watching some issue debated between a Republican mouthpiece and a mealy-mouthed Democrat.

You've seen it lots of times --- the Republican attacks, lies, spins, weaves, shouts and dodges. The Democrat can barely get a word in and when he/she does it is usually to concede this point or to apologize for that point. They bend over and say, "Take you sir, may I have another."

Alan Colmes has raised this to an art form. But he's not the only Democrat out there who needs to go away. Dee Dee Myers is another. She was on Hardball the other night and got chewed up and spit out.

Who's your least favorite Democratic spokesperson?

1. Dee Dee Myers is awesome in my opinion...
Sorry you don't like her..

I saw the Hardball you're referring to and I sure don't remember her being 'chewed up and spit out' at all. In fact, she did a great job.

7. Digsby does not share your high opinion of her
http://digbysblog.blogspot.com/

This was after a ridiculous segment in which Tweety let Rogers spin like Tonya Harding on meth about the goddamned plantation nonsense, while Dee Dee Myers (typically unprepared) apologized for Hillary and babbled nonsensically about Democrats being in the minority.

9. Here's the transcript --- Dee Dee did great.

Ed Rogers looked like a deer in the headlights.

14. Biden, Lieberman, Estrich and Cadell top my list.
It seems that mealy-mouthed, pig-headed Democrats like these are the only ones the media allows on television.

I think we Democrats should ELECT our public spokespeople and that the talking head shows would have to select only from that list of people when they presume to present the "democrat" point-of-view.

The way it is today, there are three conservatives for every democrat on television. That's bad enough, but what makes it worse is that those Republicans are always rapid attack dogs while the Democrats are always Republicans.

2. I disagree with you on the hardball segment.
Were we watching the same show? Ned Flanders, oops I mean Ed Rogers was demolished by Dee Dee. She made him admit that Newt used the 'plantation' card in 94 and she cornered him on Abramoff to the point that you could see he was rattled.

I have seen a lot of wimpy dems but not Dee Dee, not this time sorry.

4. That's the one I saw ... Dee Dee and Ed Rogers...
And Dee Dee wiped the floor with Ed's ass. He kept nervously "gulping"..

Sorry, but Dee Dee won that one easily.. She was great.

6. I had forgotten about DeeDee
I liked her quite a bit but it's been a long time since I've seen her out there. Then again I don't watch as much of the pundit wars as I used to.

5. Least favorite? Too many
But Donna Brazile has got to be on the list. Paul Begala too. I know a few here get excited when he says something that sounds almost, well, DEMOCRATIC but he's really just a mealy mouthed appeaser. Oh Al From for certain. Plenty more.

Ya know, I can't think of one "Democrat" advocate that I DO like, aside from a few who are politicians themselves.

13. I totally agree about Donna Brazile.........
She should have had her Democrat card revoked just after the 2000 Presidential Selection!

10. I wish Julian Epstein was more vocal these days...

I know during the '06 and '08 elections we'll here from him more often.. He's a Democratic Strategist, very busy attorney, writes often for the Nation, Washington Post, etc.. and was the chief minority counsel to the House Judiciary Committee during the Clinton administration..

He's just one of those smooth, eloquent people who you can listen to all day..

19. Yep, he's great...
Don't see him much anymore, though. He's too good, I guess for Tweety and the like.

12. Go for it.. I don't think quaoar minds if we post worthless or great ones
Do you quaoar?

And yeah... I agree that Donna Brazille is just not that effective.. She just doesn't have that "fight" in her.

Al From is another one who I wouldn't mind seeing taking a hike...

Then there are others who I'd LOVE to see as Democratic spokespersons.. Katrina van den Heuvel is incredible!!

It's too late right now to think of anymore for the pro/con list.. but I'll bet we could all think of a ton of them!

16. Katrina is my favorite too!
Totally informed about what she talks about and just usually blows away the opposition with facts. Never seems to get rattled. After watching her onetime, I got off my duff and suscribed to The Nation because I felt I owed it to her for being such an outstanding presence for the Democratic (true Democratic) view.

18. Susan Estridge, James Carville, Paul Begala, Joe Biden, Joementum,
Diane Feinstein, Jane Harmon, Dee Dee Myers, Al From, Bob Shrum, and on and on... going into 2006 and 2008, the Dems should be developing a chesive message and a stable of reliable spokespeople who will go out and talk the Dem Talking Points ONLY. The biggest thing in the way of our presenting a unified message is not the "big Tent", but the loose cannons we allow to go out week after week and just shoot their mouths off. We need a disciplined, unified, and eloquent message and only those willing to present it should be allowed to speak for the Party.
