- A debate over immigration reform in Congress that threatens to divide the pro-business wing of the party from the anti-immigration conservatives.
- A May 15 deadline to sign up for a Bush-backed Medicare prescription drug program that has angered senior citizens, a formidable voting bloc in November.
- Revised budget deficit estimates are expected soon from the Congressional Budget Office and the White House. Bush will urge Congress to increase the $1.8 trillion debt limit in the next few weeks. These are all reminders that Republican-led Washington is awash in red ink. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uslatest/story/0,,-5559491,00.htmlI would add to that that 1) OBL is alive, uncaptured and the army that should be hunting him down is in Iraq instead. 2) The GOP has abandoned its fundamental position: small government and have created the biggest government ever. 3) GOP sided with business to expand eminent domain seizure of private property. 4) Has not delivered tax cuts for rank and file Republicans (the ones without money). 5) Prposed further cuts to National Guard funding and strength. And there are plenty more issues that their party "faithful" should have trouble swallowing.
The name of the game is to separate the sheeple from the GOP candidates and issues like these are part of the way to do it. THEY know it -- we should too.
