the Alito list: who we need to concentrate on
Twenty two Democrats voted against Roberts. Hopefully, all 22 also will oppose Alito. In addition, so far, three Democrats that voted for Roberts have come out against ALito (Baucus, Leahy, and Salazar). That means that we should be close to 25 votes against. Here is the list of the other Democrats (plus Jeffords) that voted for Roberts. These are the folks we need to be hammering with calls, emails, etc. Admittedly, its possible that there are Senators who would vote against ALito but not support a filibuster, but hopefully if we can get close to the magic number, the pressure on those Dems to support a filibuster will become too great to resist:

Bingaman
Byrd
Carper
Conrad
DOdd
Dorgan
Jeffords (I)
Johnson
Levin
Lieberman
Lincoln
Murray
Nelson (FL)
Nelson (NE) -- already supporting Alito, probably a waste of time
Feingold
Kohl
Landrieu
Pryor
Wyden

3. I agree. We can encourage them not to nuke or to at least abstain.

4. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska is a pro-choice Republican... but...
...she said that there just wasn't enough to validate a no vote on him..

She's gained sudden popularity in Alaska for going against Bush on the Patriot Act.. but this time she's voting with her party..

5. A Filibuster is a win-win
If we win and defeat the nomination, with no nuke option, great!

If we filibuster then they nuke and force a vote, they look like the overreaching power hungry monkeys. We gain support by standing up for the Constitution - Alito threatens to shred it with the Unitary executive - and for showing some stones.

If we roll over and go along to get along, we lose momentum, look like wimps, not to mention stabbing a knife in the heart of their most vocal supporters.
