Alito : Is that where Democrats need to take a stand ? |
|
Bill Frist says Alito is the Democrats' "worst nightmare". Alito is America's worse nightmare. Washington is no place for the fickle and faint-hearted. These are challenging times. Is it time to force the hand of Bill Frist? Let him go with his "nuclear option". That is not a Democrat problem - that is a "democratic" problem. Let them show their true colors. After all, a filibuster is worthless if it cannot be used. It's time to take a stand.

2. We can take all the stands we wish Kentuck |
|
But it is time to face the music, our current crop of "leaders", for whatever reason, are unwilling or incapable of providing that leadership to us. If we want bold decisive direction, we must either find it within, or replace the present leaders with a new generation of courageous, unbeholden people who will do what must be done, consequences be damned.

4. We go to war with the leaders we now have.... |
|
They cannot be changed overnight. We must persuade them to see the dangerous curve ahead.

Maybe they will read Molly's piece from yesterday & take it to heart. They darn well should! I am tired of playing games with these guys and I am letting them know it no uncertain terms!
Since I have acquired my new address in Doctor & Lawyer town here in Austin (Westlake Hills) it is amazing how much more receptive the politicos are to me. They call me personally, answer my letters with nice little handwritten notes, it is really quite amazing how they act if they think you have some money. Boy, are they in for a surprise...

8. Yes. I came to the support of a filibuster |
|
slowly, and I still think it's a risk that could adversely effect dems in the upcoming elections, but it's a risk they need to take. If not Alito, who? I realize that the repubs will probably nuke, and if, for example, Stevens' seat becomes vacant, bushco could install someone as bad as alito, nevertheless, alito is so bad, that the dems need to filibuster and try to wake up the american people. (Is it possible to wake up the american people?)
