I can't help but wonder what kind of headaches the good folks at the NSA are getting spying thru everything we say here!
Actually, I would imagine they are actually LEARNING something as they read the TRUTH!!

I cancelled the propaganda machine, so I wouldn't know. I imagine DU would post it though.

Constitution. It has survived other assualts in the past. It is the rule of law itself, that usually saves us. That's why Bush hates it. The fact that he has not yet just ordered the suspension of constitutional rights, shows he doesn't have the power he thought he had. And if he does, he may be shocked and awed at just how much people love this country, including his own supporters, many of whom will then become 'former supporters'.

4. maybe we should start a subversive reading list |
|
then some spook is going to have to read them one by one until his head explodes.
I'm probably being too hard on civil servants but it makes me wonder all those guys at the HSA/FBI/NSA working as analysts can possibly be monitoring anti-war veterans,Quakers and Critical Mass cyclists without feeling really uncomfortable about what they are doing.

Not pertinent enough. No real threat.
There may be some database that posts go into for datamining, but that's probably all automated. At worse (or best, depending how subversive you think you are) the occasional thread gets bumped up and looked at.

I figure this is still a free country and I can still say whatever the hell I want. If they want to take notice and follow me around because I tout the 2nd Amendment and talk about revolution then more power to them.
I will assure any of them who are reading that its a waste of time and money. My life is pretty boring outside of the my DU rantings and the occasional pub meetings with my dissident friends. We talk, we drink, we go home to our wives and go back to work the next day just like everyone else.
I also assure you that should I ever catch a black SUV tailing me or sitting in my neighborhood, I will knock on the window and offer them some coffee. They're just doing their job, and if they are following me that means I have started to do mine. When that happens we are both better off knowing exactly where the other is.

22. They're spying on Quakers, peace activists, and political dissenters. |
|
Why wouldn't they read and target DU activists?
Under Bush, the NSA is an arm of the Republican party. One guy turns whistleblower, and they immediately have some staff psychiatric whore claim the guy is mentally unstable.
Wanna fight back? Crank out a ton of communications. They can only read so much, only listen to so much. And eventually, the ones who are most culpable are going to be indicted, or will be run out of government in shame. Just like Watergate. Just like Iran-Contra.
Some people never learn.
