YAY!!!(?) My county picked ES&S over Diebold!!!!!
I'm in Erie County, Pennsylvania. (I am cross-posting this in the PA forum too. Hope that's okay!)

I just saw this on the local news. They picked "iVotronic" which is from ES&S based in Omaha, NE. They selected it over the Diebold "Accu-Vote TSX".

Here's some information from my local paper's website with the link following...

"The iVotronic will have its voter verifiable paper trail function disabled because the state has not certified any voting system with a VVPT, saying they violate privacy provisions of state law.

Election Board officials said that iVotronic can make printouts of all ballots that are cast on the machine.

"This creates a paper trail that doesn't exist in our current machines," Foust said.

@ Try it out for yourself. For an online demonstration of the iVotronic machine, which Erie County has selected to www.essvote.com/flash/demo.html.

Here's the link to the Erie Times where I got the snips from (registration required) http://www.goerie.com / The article is titled "County picks new voting machines." There is no more specific link provided.

They said that iVotronic is closer to what we will be switching from...lever machines.

So, I should be relatively happy, right?

1. Not really
The tabulation software is totally vulnerable and a paper ballot is way superior than any machine.

4. A background check
I live in Nebraska, and have had trouble finding information on the company. It's privately held, but I do know that Senator Chuck Hagel, and the Omaha World Herald were investors in the company. Take a look at www.blackboxvoting.org, before you get to exited.

2. we should NOT have A N Y electronic voting or scanning. machines.
It's too hackable. Betcha the nsa that can and has been tracing every type of digital communique in this country can and probably did access 2004 election results and make changes.

9. I agree
We're the only democracy that uses diebold and any machines in general. So what does that tell you?

7. We have ES&S in Pasco County, Florida
And there were a lot of reported shenanigans in 2004.

Be wary, and vote on a paper or absentee ballot.

8. No
Hagel is owner of ES&S isn't he? Or some sort of high official? He "won" Nebraska by 80% of his votes being on ES&S machines and no republican has been senator before by Nebraska. ES&S is also a cousin company of Diebold.

10. This is what happens when the "Diebold Stole the Election" meme goes awry.

Hope you got some good auditing and recount rules.

12. Help America Vote Act
I have to wonder if the reason the HAV Act was passed was to profit the Republicans, at taxpayers expense. As well as being able to control the outcome, of all the elections in the country.
