A part of the immigration problem no one wants to address because
they are ignorant about it:

There are tens of thousands of LEGAL immigrants to this country each year and many are on special citizenship tracks that the public know little about. These people are usually among the elite of other countries--doctors, computer techs, engineers etc. They bring families and extended families and these special citizenship tracks are always a peak with Republicans in control of government. Why? Because these people have money and connections and sometimes connections to organized crime. They VOTE REPUBLICAN because that's usually how they get here and they know that. They are informed within their own ethnic groups here to be wary of blacks and Latinos whom they immediately begin to discrimnate against once they are here and established. I personally know members of three such families-one Indian and one Korean one Russian. You would be amazed at the kind of financial help these people get "under the radar" of social welfare. It's called other stuff like "resettlement services" or "economic development." They vote conservative without thought and work hard for Republicans wherever they are settled. And they are resettled in enclaves across the nation. Just think about the places you were surprised had voted Republican in the last election and the major cities where Dems lost the vote to the surprise and dismay of many here at DU. I guarantee you that if you dig enough and reserach the demographics you will find very large enclaves of immigrant groups resettled here since the late 80's. Under Reagan this was a very big program for Russians and groups from the Croatia, Ukraine, and the "istan" former sattlite countries of the USSR. A lot of member of our Congress are even ignorant of these programs which previously had been carried out by our State Department and therefore very much under the radar.

OK, blast away. I know people hate to hear the truth.

1. where are you?
An anecdote about 3 families won't make me think all legal immigrants are Republican and on the take.

But, if we had data like what state you were talking about, what actual govt programs you're talking about, where their offices are, and how many 'beneficiaries' there are, you might have a story here. Otherwise you're making a case for compassionate conservatism.

The part about being warned within their own ethnic groups to avoid blacks and latinos doesn't hold any water at all. Republicans have little to do with that.

Just a thought over the first sips of coffee.

3. Believe me, I am not against immigration and the contributions made
by all groups to this nation over the years. I just am against having these folks used as pawns in a sophisticated political system to the ignorance of the American public. The American public is forced to focus on the so-called "hot-button" issues just to keep them from being informed about what is really going on around them. We are pitted against our fellow Americans who have been here for generations and forced to think about only inner-city crime (as bad as it is it is usually confined only to the neighborhoods where the thugs live. Ever wonder why we are in Iraq bringing law and order spending billions, while we do little to really stop inner city crime...and I am not talking about beating a young black man to death for failing to riase is hands or for pulling out his wallet. To me, this is state sanctioned genocide. I am talking about stopping real crime rings that entice the young of the inner city. We know where and who is running it but we just won't deal with it. It is much too convenient to just let it simmer as a distraction from the larger picture.) while the real crime that affects millions of innocent lives takes place in the halls of Congress and the WH and the corporate board rooms of places like ENRON, Halliburton, etc.

Certain groups are being brought here to raise a certain class of people and these people will mostly vote conservative Republican for at least the next two generations.

7. Man I am sick of It
I have had it with these under the radar, back door anti-Asian, racist posts. Why don't you include the wealthy African national or Latin American elites who come to this country and live in privilege? Elites bring with them something others don't: well developed human capital. When we get a doctor or an engineer to come here, this means that their native country just lost valuable talent. Maybe if American kids would get into the hard sciences instead of Art History, Marketing/MBA and law, we wouldn't have these "yellow and brown bastards" coming here taking away jobs from our people. Oh wait, they are taking jobs very few Americans can do.

8. From where do you get "backdoor anti-Asian remarks?"
A description of reality and it has to be anti-someone? You are correct there are elites among Africans and a host of others i didn't name but they are not here in the numbers that significantly sway voting in any area. That's the point of my thread. The RW uses many means to achieve their ends and people who continue to put their head in a hole to deny the truth are a big part of the reason why they can get away with what they do unchallened and unchanged.

10. Thank You!
Wonder about all those Cubans. Do they hate Latinos as well? Did you know if you have an investment of over a million dollars in the US you will automatically be granted US citizenship?

9. I know some educated immigrants....
They are NOT on "special" citizenship tracks. They pay immigration lawyers to ensure they have the right to stay here. They also pay considerable taxes, because they usually earn considerable salaries. And they are the types who would make great citizens--along with their children, who already are.

And many of them do NOT love Bush.

More information, please.

11. This should be surprising to my immigrant Indian, Democrat parents.
They didn't bring any extended family over here, either.
