1. Matthews is at 100 pct. Dem?
I see that this goes all the way back to 1978 so obviously, he's changed since then. And Ann Landers is dead so I guess we can cross her off the list.

2. Thanks for that...very interesting!
Tweety gave $1500 to Dems and nothing to the GOP. I would never have guessed that one!

7. Matthews has a strong Dem pedigree
Chris Matthews was an aide to House Speaker Tip O'Neill, and ran for a Pennsylvania congressional seat as a Democrat back in the 1970s (lost the primary). If you take a look at most of his writings over the years, you will also find a decided Democratic tilt, though he tends to come from a blue-collar, Philly Irish Catholic perspective, and not the "New Politics" liberalism of many of his generational cohorts.

11. Matthews gets a bum rap
FightinNewDem is correct about Matthews' Democratic pedigree. The problem confronting him is not that he is straying from the Democratic Party but rather that the party is straying away from the ethnic, blue-collar segment of the population that was traditionally a large part of its base. Matthews has not really changed all that much over the past 2 decades. The party has.

6. Check out the heading in the upper right: Sports stars, CEOs etc.
You will see that entertainers and sports mostly go Dem CEOs and big money go mostly Republican.

8. We must be looking at different lists
the Sports category is overwhelmingly GOP. A few blacks and women give to the Dems, but all the others are Bushies.

12. How old is this list? I just saw Katherine Graham's name and she's dead
correct me if I'm wrong, but she's been dead for awhile

There were no dates listed

I'll take this list with a grain of salt
