B*sh & Abramoff - Orwellian games
The craziness of the B*sh Misadministration's efforts to find and conceal photos of B*sh and Jack Abramoff is finally beginning to sink in on me.

Why are B*sh and Rove so anxious to destroy any photographic evidence of B*sh and Abramoff together?

How can they possibly imagine that if they find and destroy some photos, that other photos of them won't turn up? People take pictures all them time. People take pictures of the president.

Just because they appear in the same photo together doesn't constitute a crime, not does it prove that GWB committed any crimes with Abramoff or took any bribes. So why is GWB so paranoid? After all, he's appeared in photos with Bill Clinton, who was impeached by out-of-control rethugs with rabies.

I wonder what exactly it is that GWB is trying to hide by having his lackeys round up and destroy photos of himself and Abramoff. It strikes me as peculiarly Orwellian for GWB and his minions to try to pretend that he never knew Jack A., never met Jack, never shook hands with Jack, never appeared in public with Jack.

After all, none of the above-mentioned things are illegal.

What WOULD be illegal would be taking bribes from Jack, asking Jack to make donations to GWB's political cronies, etc.

How would hiding photos of the two of them conceal such acts, if they occurred? If there is a paper trail, someone will find it. If Jack decides to squeal on GWB, it will happen, unless someone decides to shut Jack up. And if that were to happen, that would be a bigger and uglier crime than anything mentioned above.

Are GWB and Rove so stupid that they think hiding the photos will successfully conceal any link between B*sh and Abramoff? Don't they see how such a tactic can backfire when other photos turn up?

Why are they playing childish games with the media and the public on this? Is it to distract our attention with smoke and mirrors -- i.e. they play games with photos to keep anyone from noticing the destruction of a paper trail or other evidence of something?

Or is it too much to hope that all the scandals have caused them to lose all sanity and behave more stupidly and irrationally than ever before?

Any rumblings from Fitz? They must be expanding a great deal, to be taking so long. My popcorn is molding. :(
