Pure garbage from the CIC - What is wrong with him?
Just caught a clip on the evening news with the ChimpInChief was defending his spy policies at that invitation-only forum today.

Does he really believe wiretaps will listen in only on potential terrorists? That no innocent people will lose their privacy?

It's like the fishing trawler laying it's nets and the crew saying they're going to catch tuna and nothing else. Everything will get caught up in the nets as well as the targeted fish..............what a load of pure lies from Bush, not that he is capable of anything else.

I'm so pissed I could explode.

America, be afraid. Big Brother is watching you.

1. It's OK. Another DUer finally explained it to me.
The terrorists hate us for our freedom. George Bush is taking our freedom away so the terrorists won't hate us any more. What more do you want?

3. Consider this example.
You make a phone call/e-mail to a business in search of an item. Unbeknownst to you the businessman (or whomever)is under suspicion of having terrorist ties. Since you have innocently contacted him you have put yourself into the bulls eye. Now they wonder what your link, if any, is to this suspect. So now you are going to be monitored, just in case you have something they may be interested in.

Be afraid of this government and this president, be very afraid.

5. No, no, no.
Once George Bush takes away our freedoms, the terrorists won't hate us anymore and everything will be all peachy keen again. See? Want some of my Xanax? It's really nice.....

2. In an earlier discussion on DU
We talked about junk email. I think the GWB Regime is phishing! Someone was talking about getting an email that was in another language. We've heard The Regime talk about "recipients" of calls from al Qaeda. I'm betting they will consider you a threat if you receive email from "a terrorist organization". Even a phony one.

Do not open email from unknown senders! All you need to do is open it to confirm an email address!

4. If he's spying on terrorists, why keep it secret from the Secret Court?
The whole intention is to spy on his critics & political enemies. If he had a choice of listening in on John Kerry's phone calls, or Mohamed Atta's - he's go with Kerry in a heartbeat.

When Bush say's he needs to be able to spy on Americans in order to protect them - THAT'S BULLSHIT!!!!!

HE NEEDS TO DO IT SO HE CAN PROTECT HIS OWN ASS!!!!!!!

6. It's just a question of definitions.
Edited on Mon Jan-23-06 10:59 PM by AZCat
Just as the trawler crew can solve their problem by defining "tuna" as anything that gets caught in the nets, Bush&Co simply define anyone caught in their net as a "terrorist."

According to them, a real citizen wouldn't be actively (or passively for that matter) working to disrupt the important goings-on of the government, especially when Bush&Co know what is best for us already. Therefore any action that falls outside those narrowly defined boundaries is the action of a "terrorist."

Edit: Corrected tag.
