Fear of using the Internet
Google refuses to divulge browsing--
"You are either with us or against us!"

This, after fear of using the library.

They don't have to control information itself, just our tendency to access it. Exciting our worries about getting on a list for checking out the wrong book or visiting the wrong site, which of course are whatever bother BushCo at the time. The war on criticism continues, as does the "no news is good news" ideology.

"We don't want to control your mind; we just want to control your -inclinations-." -Shadoevision.

America, you've been mind-fucked. And there's more to come! Because there really is nothing to stop them from doing anything they want, is there?

2. Thank you for your support.
In case you hadn't noticed, things are on a definite trend. You don't imagine that they'll simply steal the next election as well and continue whittling away civil rights?

6. Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my! Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my!
If you're just going to be intimidated by ham-handed thuggery then you might as well just give up now and get out of the way so none of the people actually fighting for their rights trips over you as you lie there quivering. There's a word for your attitude.

7. Thanks again for your support.
Glad that you're not worried at all about a cabal who managed to steal two US elections and impede the Constitution, calling it legal and basically announcing "we'll do what we want when we want, you are either with us or against us"...

I'd like to start using whatever you're using, to avoid noticing these tiny items as they mount and build and point to a single possible ending.

I'm the barking dog. Heed me, there are burglars in your house. Unless you enjoy mocking your watchdog ;-)

I feel that we are living in similar times.

8. No, but thanks for the rec.
All of these things add up to a nasty totality. These people are putting systems into place that, combined with another "attack" or martial law, will allow for a police state and rounding up of those who question them, even based upon retroactive internet search data.

I'm just making a tiny leap from "stolen elections", "ignoring Bin Laden PDAs/Trade Towers burn", "Patriot Act", "Iraqi invasion for oil but they said WMD", "I'm not concerned about Bin Laden", "Bush family ties to Saudis, and Saudis say nothing about invading Iraq", "Iraqi civil war", "destruction of the middle class and unions", "outsourcing, privatizing, deregulating", "No-bid contracts for cronies", "Grooming politicians for Christ", "Wiretapping for years" and wondering about the goal.

These people do not act without a goal. In fact, they have stolen the government in a bloodless coup, a fait accompli, and there are no checks or balances against this sort of thing. They can do whatever they want, whenever they want.

Is it as bad as you think? As bad as it seems to be? Sure! This has been building since Reagan, and will seemingly not be turned away.

9. But wait, there's more!
I'd forgotten about "Enron", "Record Exxon profits", "Wartime economy", "US uses white phosphorus (WMD) against nation with no WMD", "We don't torture, except for when we torture, in all of those secret 'floating' CIA prisons across Europe and in Iraq", etc.

And that every word out of every BushCo member translates to "Fuck You". I'm just not comfortable with any of this.

10. Your fears are valid.
I can't believe anyone who ascribes to progressive values would mimick you. That's on them.

Government intrusions matter without regard to who they intrude upon. Our movements are tracked with cameras everywhere we go now. Our libraries are monitored. Our search engines are monitored. And our activities online and through email are subject to review for whatever reason by whomever in government chooses to review.

Those who fail to comprehend the creeping effect should read a few good books on the topic, starting with 1984.

11. Are they the type who cover discomfort with nervous laughter?
I know a lot of those sorts.
