Photographs of Bush, Abramoff Are Withheld
White House Calls Pictures Irrelevant to Investigation

By Jim VandeHei and Susan Schmidt
Washington Post Staff Writers
Tuesday, January 24, 2006; Page A04

White House officials have reviewed pictures of President Bush and Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff taken since 2001 but will not release them on grounds that they are not relevant to the ongoing money-for-favors investigation in Washington, aides said yesterday.

"Trying to say there's more to it than the president taking a picture in a photo line is just absurd," White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters. Bush, he said, does not recall meeting Abramoff and did not do any favors for the disgraced lobbyist.

Abramoff, who recently pled guilty in the growing bribery and corruption scandal, said the lobbyist was with Bush about a dozen times at which pictures were taken by the official White House photographer or other participants over the past five years, according to a source familiar with Abramoff's legal situation. Abramoff, this source said, displayed at least five of them on his office desk and has told people the president talked about his children's names as well as personal details about their schooling during one encounter.

The source said Abramoff has more than a half dozen photos with Bush, including one with the two shaking hands, but has no intention of releasing them. The existence of the Bush-Abramoff photos was first reported by Washingtonian magazine, which reviewed five photos but was not permitted to publish them.

<<snip>>

Jennifer Palmieri, a former Clinton communications aide, said, "If TV is showing a picture of George Bush and Jack Abramoff, it immediately brings the poster boy for abuse into the Oval Office."

23. Why?
I'm sure they are staged photos at events - there are literally thousands of those taken. It really doesn't prove a relationship. I'm not saying there wasn't one, I'm just saying that isn't what's going to help us. If there were other photos, they've been destroyed already. We need to subpoena the phone records, meeting notes and correspondence. We also need witnesses. I know this all exists, we just need to get it.

2. Those pictures are a consultants dream
The pictures with Bush and Abramoff will be used most effectively in 2006. GWB has much to answer for, and those pictures symbolically say that his answer is to run with the thugs.

"I never met the man."

Now it's "Sure there are pictures of the man and me together, but I never spoke with the man."

Next it will be, "Sure there are witnesses who saw me talking with the man, but he never asked me to do anything."

Then it will be, "Well he asked me to do a couple of things, but I didn't do them."

After that "I did them but it's not like he paid me or anything."

Finally, "I am not a crook."

6. Okay, I believe every word that comes from the WH or any of its
operatives.

Yes I believed it when it was said anyone connected to Plamegate would be terminated.

And I believed it when it was said that anyone who committed a crime wrt Plamegate would have to leave.

And I believed that there were WMD, and now I believe that they believed there were WMD.

I believed that they always got warrants for wiretaps, and now I believe that it is legal even without a law that says it is legal to wiretap US citizens.

I really believe that The Clear Skies bill helps air quality. It's one of those magical things, you know if you lower pollution standards the air will get cleaner cause it will be happier.

I believe in anything, long as it comes from the WH. Oh yea.

I can't wait to hear tomorrow's truth so I'll know what to believe then.

14. Yes, right you are.
I'll do that.

I'll get my reality from Faux news, the direct mouthpiece of the WH.

I believe everything THEY say too.

How can anyone not see that this is the most corrupt administration in this country's history?
