Can somebody PLEASE explain how the Canadian government works?
In lamens terms. I'm so confused trying to follow these election results right now.:shrug: Thanks in advance.

Or both? That would take some time.

Here's the basic bare minimum of the election.

You have 4 political parties trying to get as many votes as possible. We are not and never have been a two-party country. And one party is only for the province of Quebec, but they get almost all the votes there (it's weird, but bear with me).

Now, the Conservatives are favored to win over the Liberals (the incumbents). And that's bad.

HOWEVER, they almost certainly won't have enough votes to carry a majority. That means they can't get away with murder as your GOP is doing.

If the Conservatives want things done, they have to NEGOTIATE and MAKE DEALS. So it won't be a complete disaster domestically. I hope.

What bothers me is that they'll get to decide about foreign affairs and that scares me. They'll leach onto Shrub and who knows what they'll promise or give away.
