Wake up, spokesmen! The Republicans are in campaign mode. |

The Democrats are letting them get the jump on '06.
They're not JUST defending the wiretapping scandal or the war, they're campaigning.
They've given us a dozen targets, and select parts of the left have chosen their favorite ones. They have us fragmented on our pet issues while they're looking at the big picture.... the fall congressional election.
We're not gonna filibuster or reject Alito; or stop the war; or impeach; or eliminate the Patriot Act; or ......
All we're fairly sure of is the fall election, and they got the jump on it - starting yesterday. This next election is our only hope of slowing the * juggernaut through 2008. We're seeing the trees, not the forest. They have us concentrating on the ample supply of diversions - like waiting for Fitz to provide us a miracle - and they're campaigning. We better the Hell start campaigning for the 2006 House by flooding the airwaves with opposing viewpoints - as they are presently doing.
Mr Dean, we cannot counter their two-hour speeches with a two-paragraph press release. We must seize the media spotlight, not wait for the media to highlight our message with their selected ten-second spots.

3. Thought about this yesterday |

when cable news program aired a virtual Dan Bartlett show. How many more times are we going to hear things like "Bush informed Congress about the wiretapping" or "Bush administration takes mine safety very seriously" before we get our message out? The Bush administration is usually very disciplined when it comes to talking points. By the time a Democrat or two shows up, the RW message is already in the fact column.
When Democrats do have an opportunity to speak, istead of responding to some asinine Michael Moore equals Osama comment, they should nail some facts down....and hard.

in that they're going these extremes indicates they perceive a serious political threat. And, in my opinion, rightly so. However, they're taking a gamble, because all they're doing is drawing even more attention to to the very issues they'd like everyone to forget.

5. The administration is doing all of these speeches this week. |
|
The Democrats should be out there giving their own speeches this week, like Gore did last week.
The Democrats need to set the record straight and tell the American people that WARRANTLESS wiretapping is illegal no matter what Bush says.
