This question is for the Sen. Ben Nelson (D?-NE) apologists out there
Now that he is using his unwavering support for scrub's judicial nominees in his campaign literature, my question is, "Can I now start being vocal about this guy being bad for our party?" or are we still using the milquetoast response about his state being a "red state" and he has to do this.
Because if we are, then you're saying he is lying, so therefore, he is as principled as scalito, and will say anything to get elected. I also continue to remind people here at DU...scroturum (R-PA) continues to vote how he believes in a state that is blue.
One last note for those who hold out the belief that when we take control of the Senate next year that we can rely on nelson (D?-NE) to support hearings, you are fooling yourself.

1. There are a few Nelson defenders here, basically those that say that
he's the best that you could do for a dem here in Hooterville.

I think the guy's a fraud and as bad, no maybe even worse, than Lieberman. He's a younger but equally as traitorous to the party as Zell Miller. He just won't come out and be honest about his political beliefs and loyalties because he still wants to serve in the senate and couldn't if he declared himself a repuke, which he is.

He's worthless as tits on a board (that's how my Mom used to say it. I never knew how she got it so screwed up. But I guess they're as useless on a board as in a boar.)

4. He's way worse than Lieberman. He has the most conservative
voting record of any Democrat in the Senate.

Lieberman has some very bad votes, but he also has some good votes. Nelson is tomorrows Zell, and an insurance executive to boot.

6. Where was Meirs up or down vote?
Nelson needs to join up with the GOP. I couldn't see where any democrat would vote for him when he's actually a republican. He's doing their bidding, let him join them and get him out of the party.

7. Can we?
What makes you think he won't bolt?

A man like that obviously has no integrity.

8. You're right
I don't even begin to understand how people like the OP don't get it. It's a matter of simple math. If we can retain this seat in the very red state of Nebraska, take DeWine's, Santorum"s, Burn's, Chafee's and 2 others, we take back the Senate. Harry Reid becomes ML, we get committee chairmanships and there's actually the possibility of meaningful opposition to bushco.

9. I'm really upset with this Senator.
There is something more important than protecting his own hiney: the Constitution. If he can't convey that message to his constituents he doesn't deserve the position anyway. (Yeah, yeah, I know he's supposedly a Democrat, but what good's a Democrat who votes Republican?)
