So I had a few moments with Dennis Kucinich tonight..... |
|
We ran into each other at one of the west side Cleveland's best Ward Clubs.... I met his wife... Cute and bubbly...
I hadn't seen Dennis since 2001, when I was helping to get a candidate appointed to an open County Commissioners seat...
He didn't know about my illness, having to wear O2 and all, kind of set him back...
But he was on fire tonight...
We have a lot of mutual friends and we have helped each other a lot over the last 15 years or so...
He's a good guy... He's sliding into middle age well... He looks better than I have seen him in years... And, he is committed to going all over the area to help any democrat at any level...
He really thinks this year is one of the most critical years in American History... That we are getting close to sliding into the abyss... He said the founding fathers were willing to stake it all on a better future... And then he asked, Are We?????

I like him a lot. I once took a political quiz to find out which candidate I had the most views in common with. Kucinich was #1, Kerry#2.
Kucinich seems like an extremely good man.

I have always thought, of the presidential candidates, he had the best instincts for knowing what was right for America's future. He would have been a great president.

I like this:
"He said the founding fathers were willing to stake it all on a better future... And then he asked, Are We?????"
I have a great respect for Dennis. He's always struck me as someone who is not afraid to take a stand for what he believes in. And his heart certainly seems to be in the right place. I'm not surprised he's as alarmed at the state of affairs in this country as I am. Sliding into the abyss....that about says it, doesn't it?
As for you, I hope you're doing OK.

as one of the people in this world I would love to meet and just have 5 minutes to speak with. One of my all time favorites.
I am glad to hear how he is doing.
The answer, if you see him again is YES. We are doing all we can.

Are we?
I am. I hope enough of us are. We need to start taking some real risks as citizens and demand accountability and integrity from our elected officials. We need to BECOME our elected officials. We need to take the gov't back so it starts working for us again.
He's right - we are sliding down quickly and while the ugliness is coming to the surface here and there (illegal spying, Delay/Abramoff, etc) Americans aren't outraged at this. It scares the hell out of me.
I love Dennis, thanks for this info. Is he thinking of running again in 2008? Because he would do a whole lot to bring the independent/progressive/leftists back into the Democratic party. Otherwise the Dems are really starting losing us. We got pulled in last year with grassroots efforts and Howard Dean heading the DNC, but they sure haven't thrown us much of a bone lately.
Kucinich would do wonders for the frustrated independents in this country.

Did he mention whether he would walk out of the State of the Union?
or whether we can be expecting him to introduce articles of impeachment?

He was committed to talk about a local matter...
I only spoke to him personally for about five minutes... We talked about my health and his new wife...
I signed his petition...
He signed the one I was circulating...
He hugged my wife, and wnet off to rally the troops....
