Lobbying reform hearing NOW on C-Span with Feingold, McCain witnesses!
Sounds like a lot of "ass covering" to me, but I look forward to hearing Senator Feingold's plan. There can be no real reform of the way business is done in Washington without campaign finance reform--lobbyists can actually serve as treasurers of campaigns and raise money for their "leadership" PACs.

that's a hugely important point ... i hadn't seen your thread (sorry about that) and just made the exact same point based on comments from Senator Durbin and others at the hearing ...

if people we elect are desperate for money, the money providers will all-too-soon arrive ... it's just an incredible disgrace that Congress is finally having an "i'm shocked to learn that there's gambling going on here" moment ...

it shouldn't have taken the Abramoff revelations to get a democratically-elected government to act in the peoples' interests ...
