6. depressing
They said something about the "ever-changing electorate and representing the will of the population". That kind of crap, never mind what is good for the country! It was just a phone person but still....

5. She may face an electorate of more white people in 2008
And they will not vote for her anyway, even if she does go DLC on Scalito.

7. I had read some rumblings about this earlier in the week
Apparently they are using reconstruction money as hostage for her vote.

10. No, she is just a bad Democrat
her record BEFORE Katrina is just as bad as after Katrina. Our mistake is thinking that she was ever on the side of prgressives...don't let that cutey face fool you.

12. if she votes yes she's gonna screw herself on this one
because they'll still hold up the reconstruction money and she & LA won't have any recourse

8. I recommend this approach when calling her...

I called Landrieu's DC office yesterday. The girl who answered the phone seemed pleased that I called until I mentioned that our democracy was at stake, the Republicans want a yes-man, etc. That's when her bubble seemed to burst & she became less interested.

If I didn't have a distinctive airy voice, I'd call again with the approach at the above link.

9. Just so everyone knows where Landieu stands as a Democrat
These are our worst senators:
Cantwell (Washington) - DLC 42.9
Johnson (South Dakota) - DLC 42.9
Kohl (Wisconsin) - DLC 42.9
Baucus (Montana) - DLC 39.3
Conrad (North Dakota) - DLC 39.3
Feinstein (California) 39.3
Leiberman (Connecticut) - DLC 35.7
Carper (Deleware) - DLC 28.6
Lincoln (Arkansas) - DLC 21.4
Nelson (Florida) - DLC 21.4
Salazar (Colorado) - DLC 21.4
Pryor (Arkansas) - DLC 17.9
Landrieu (Louisianna) - DLC 14.3
Nelson (Nebraska) - DLC 0.0

My scoring system seems to be soooo predicitive as to which Democrats are fargin' turncoats.

11. I don't have a lot of hope that she'll vote our way
but I would have regretted not calling with my input.

Bush just knocked down a Katrina buy-out bill co-authored by Landrieu; it made top story on the local evening news. I have a feeling that Landrieu is going to use her vote as a bargaining chip, unfortunately. I hope I'm wrong.
