Interesting Stars and Stripes letters....
http://www.estripes.com/article.asp?section=125&article=34542

In the first one, we find out that private security firms are providing SECURITY FOR THE MILITARY?
WTF?

In the third one, we learn about a deployed soldiers observations, and in closing he notes that he and his unit are tired.

I always find these letters fascinating and note that more and more of them refuse to toe the military line!

1. Maj. Scott DeLorenzi
I think someone needs to review how he attained that rank

:silly:

His MAJOR point ( :spank: ) seems to be that there is the function of the Presidency in law enforcement matters and in military matters and that military matters need not be within the law and that they do indeed top the law enforcement matters.

2. There are many private security firms providing security for the military
Global Risk Strategies (UK), Meteoric Tactical Solutions (South Africa), KBR (US), ArmorGroup (UK), among many, many others...

Mercinaries, as they are known. Most are ex military or police. Many ex Rangers, SAS et. al with absolutely no oversight into their operations by any governing command.

3. I like the second one
"When everyone attending a government/military function is told to bow their heads and prayer is said to a specific deity, it is unconstitutional. When a chaplain refuses to allow a distinct faith service, regardless of how many soldiers would be served by it, it is unconstitutional. When one is subjected to harassment from one’s superiors because of one’s beliefs, it is unconstitutional. Just like racist and sexist comments are not allowed in the workplace, public official-led prayer should not be allowed at functions that are not religious services, nor should the systematic harassment of individuals that express different beliefs be allowed."

Written by a Chaplain ! Any bets she's not a Baptist?
