Let me get this straight...
The citizens of the United States of America are perfectly comfortable with:

1. Illegal wiretapping
2. Stolen Elections
3. Outting a covert CIA Agent
4. Pre-emptive WAR
5. War based on LIES
6. The POTUS destroying the RULE OF LAW
7. Detention Centers being built across our beloved country
8. Declaring that the House and Senate is virtually MEANINGLESS
9. The POTUS advocating TORTURE throughout the globe
10. The POTUS will not release pictures to the American people re: Abu/Abramoff...etc.
11. Spits in every single American's eye every chance that he gets
12. Perpetually lies to the American people ABOUT EVERYTHING

The list goes on and on...
This is NOT the AMERICA I know and love. I feel like I'm living in a Twilight Zone. Where are all of the fucking Patriots in this country? Why can't anyone with an ounce of power step up and do the right thing? WTF? I am angry!! I am very ANGRY!!! I guess I should just "give up"...BUT I CAN'T! I'm just tired and worn, but I'm not out. Not yet. One thing is for certain, IMO. If these jackasses that "supposedly" represent us on Capital Hill don't get a grip VERY SOON...I don't know how we'll fix this. I just don't know what to do anymore. I just don't know who we are or what we've become. I feel as though the walls are closing in and I don't know how to stop it! Am I alone in this?

Peace.

It's like it's THEIR country and they are just letting us live in it. It's very depressing.

4. No, you are not alone. It feels like the twilight zone.
Where are all the people waving their little made-in-China flags and yelling we're number one?

Clean up the language a bit and sent it in.

Short, clear and to the point.

I really mean it, A LTTE to the local rag(s). People other than the choir here should see what you wrote.

8. You are NOT ALONE ...
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 05:17 PM by LSparkle
I am equally incensed. My ancestors came over here on the Mayflower and fought for independence and I am sickened by what is occurring in this country! How can people be so willing to just surrender their rights WITHOUT A FIGHT? Where is the bravery? Where is the determination to overcome at all odds? Where is the outrage at the overreach by the Asshat-in-Chief? I keep thinking of the David Bowie song with the prominent line, "This is not America ... " because IT ISN'T ANYMORE!!!

These people are the ones who HATE AMERICA as it is, and they are the ones WHO SHOULD LEAVE. If they feel more comfortable in a fundamentalist, religious dictatorship, GO TO SAUDI ARABIA, but LEAVE MY AMERICA ALONE!!!

17. I thank my lucky stars that my mom and dad are dead, and unable
to see what this country has become. My mom immigrated here, and my dad's family came here in the 1640's. Two of my direct ancestors fought in, and survived, the Revolutionary War. They all must be twirling in their graves.

Another horrible revelation -- since I have Rev ancestors, of course I am in the Daughters of the American Revolution. Guess what? They all think Hitl-- I mean Bush--was sent by god to save the country. If that doesn't make you weep, nothing will.

10. You're not alone by a long shot, fooj.
I think we're all feeling helpless; we're watching the meltdown of our country and don't know how to stop it or fight it. If our reps won't do anything, we're sunk. And that's not looking great.

12. I have been in a bizarro world since Nov of 2000
Honestly it's been like living in a fog--

I was railing against bushit since it was announced that he MIGHT be the GOP pick to run in 00. I was considered some type of loon that needed to get off the net by most of my freinds and family because that is about all I talked about--I knew his appalling record, I knew the family history of crime and looting

I KNEW he would be bad...but I never in my wildest imaginings realized just HOW BAD he would be.

Like you illustrate in your OP over the last 5 years I just keep thinking WTF?

OK - this time they've been too obvious, this time they've gone too far--surely to God the public and the congress are going to do something about this.

Each time I have been WRONG! Things continue business as usual!

You know I hate to even credit freeper types with being human (I don't believe that they are) but there was a time when I thought that maybe, just maybe, even those types of people would see the corruption and out and out looting of the treasury that is taking place and that they would say *woah* and put the brakes on their blind support of this tyrant...but it never happened and clearly it's not going to! How can they not see what the hell is going on? These are the same fools that claimed Clinton was going to do EVERYTHING BUSH IS ACTUALLY DOING!

W.T.F???????????

This isn't even a basic Liberal/Conservative thing--

This isn't *just politics* we have a a fascist nutcase in office and it's like there is no one even troubling themselves to give a damn--I don't get it!

15. They want tears? I'll give you tears ...
As Barbara Boxer said yesterday, what about the tears of the women whose lives are going to be negatively impacted by Scalito being seated on the Supreme Court? What about the tears of people who will have to endure discrimination? What about the tears of all of us at the loss of our beloved country? Are HER tears more important? (That's a rhetorical question because, in their minds, THEY ARE.)

This country no longer DESERVES democracy if it's not willing to fight for it.

18. excepting the period of, say, the civil war & 1930 to 1970
there has been little social progress in the history of america. every right that actually is respected by the state was bought with the blood of union members, socialists, abolistionists, blacks, etc. and then those rights are chipped away by the wealthy & the powerful.

the way i see it, since reagan, we're back to normal. a corporate oligarchy, with lip service to democratic ideals.

why are you even surprised?

20. His approval rating is in
the upper 30% or so. That means that 60-70% of voters, both parties combined, are sick of this administration. We have a lot of work to do, peace.

If someone actually discusses politics with me, they ask if I'm angry coz my voice raises - I always respond - YES I AM ANGY, why aren't you.

Jeezus yesterday I had to "prove" to some dipwad that Bush is allowing torture, they "don't believe the media." Holy fuck.
