Bob Casey Jr. Supports Alito
More evidence that Casey is not the candidate that we should be supporting for US Senate in PA:

Chuck Pennacchio all the way!

Your pal,
Eric

1. Are you working for Santorum? This was their ploy to sabotage
his support. They want us to be dicouraged and divided. Casey may support Alito, but it makes no difference at all since he isn't voting. A Pro-choice candidate will have no chance against Santorum in PA. I would rather have a Dem with an issue I don't agree with elected to the Senate than elect Santorum to another term in the Senate.

6. You're so right.
Yes, I know that it was such a vicious attack, I don't know if he'll every rebound from it. Anyway, he implied that I worked for Santorum, so what's worse?

10. But poster #1 is committing a PA as well
Just because he's against Casey supporting Alito doesn't make him some sort of Republican. I'm sick of your constant support of the DLC and DLC candidates.

5. May I ask you a question ?
I appreciate your support for Pennachio in the Primary. Hypothetically, would you support Casey against Santorum in the General?

PS - I'm an old Pennsylvanian, my Mom still lives in Greenfield.

7. Not sure
Honestly, I'm not sure anymore. I always thought I would, but Casey seems to do something worse every day. I probably will in the end, but I won't like. I sure as hell won't go out of my way to volunteer for him or give any money.

Your pal,
Eric

have a chance against Santorum. Casey fits in PA. I do not like his position on abortion. It apparently, is the same as his father's whom I resented and was glad to see leave office. But, in the area where Santorun comes from and he is popular in, the western portion of PA, Casey is extremely competitive against Santorum. This area is very conservative and religious and the voting trend here has been Republican for several years now, even though most people are registered Democrats. I was born and raised in Philly and I now live in the Western part of the state so I know what I am talking about. I have also witnessed first hand the disgusting and loathsome tactics of the Republicans in this area. Our state senator lost to a Republican who changed parties after being promised $$$ to run. They smeared our Senator with lies about Rendell and him frequenting gay bars and partying on tax payer money and voting against this area in favor of Phila.. The Republicans even printed recipes from their candidate's mother to prove what a hometown good boy he was. As hokey as that all sounds the people here apparently fell for it hook line and sinker. We has a paper distributed by Richard Mellon Scaifee. The Tribune Review. This paper serves as the soap box for Sciafee and he HATES anything liberal or even Democratic.
The following is quoted from today's MSNB's First Read. It confirms what I am saying. Casey has to be very careful what he says because in my area, they are looking for any wavering on his abortion position-anything that differs from Santorum's to nail him with. They were looking for Casey to say he would vote against Alita so that they could create doubt in people's minds about Casey and if that didn't work, to splinter the base support he has.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5613475/

"The Democratic challenger to the most vulnerable Republican Senate incumbent of 2006 has announced his support for Alito. But the campaign of Sen. Rick Santorum (R) is arguing that Bob Casey, Jr. (D), son of the former pro-life Democratic Pennsylvania governor whose name is on one of the most famous abortion cases in Supreme Court history, may have just alienated his Democratic base by coming out in Alito's favor. That said, current Gov. Ed Rendell (D), whose wife serves with Alito on the Third Circuit, is also supporting him."
I will add, that Rendell is very vulnerable in this area. He won his election by the narrowest margins in this area. This area was very enthusiastic about Fisher.

15. I do not like a lot of his positions -
and I moved out of PA 23 years ago.

(I still have some real estate in Pennsylvania - a 1/16th interest in a three floor triplex in Greenfield -- and -- daadaa -- my "Pre need plot" which defines my last trip back to the'Burgh - in the cargo compartment of a USAir jet).

Seriously - when you chop off Montgomery County and Pittsburgh's East End, Pennsylvania is a very socially conservative, church going state. And what those of us in/from Montgomery County or Shadyside would call "archaic" and "medieval" and "superstition" - is really the way lots of Pennsylvanians think and vote.

Remember-

1. As bad as Casey is - Rickie is worse.
2. Casey will vote with the Dems to organize the Senate, Rickie votes with the GOP.

14. Why is that?
Even the repub Spector seems pro choice, why would a dem need to be pro life? The Santorum days are over, I am puzzled why we want to elect a democratic copy.

3. Bob Casey, Jr. apparently dislikes women
Alito has no business being on the supreme court, but since Casey is a male, I guess Alito's appointment won't make that much difference. I hope Pennacchio beats your sorry ass. :spank:
Wish I could vote in Pennsylvania!

17. Thanks for clarifying that question I had about Casey
Maybe I shouldn't have assumed that he was anti-women's rights, but, I'm terribly disillusioned by the fact that women are treated as second class citizens by so many males in power. Don't get me wrong, I love the male species, coming from a family of 10 siblings, I had four even handed brothers
and respected them so much, and am married to a good man. Where do these kind of men come from? It's the errosion of civil rights in general that we need to be concerned about.

9. Well maybe
If he gets in the Senate he will realize that it would have been a terrible mistake. I don't live in Pennsylvania, but now I would consider a Pennacchio over him if I were them. However, I would suggest that if casey is nominated please vote for him. He is still better than Santorum.
