the twisted reasoning of those who won't filibuster
consider the argument of those who vote "No" on Alito but refuse to filibuster ... in that I have not actually heard the arguments they might make, consider this a hypothetical ...

the argument, it seems to me, must be that while they oppose Alito's nomination, they don't believe it's right to filibuster a Supreme Court nominee ... essentially, they are agreeing with the premise that a nominee should receive an "up or down" vote and that the majority should rule ... they are agreeing that the will of the majority should determine the outcome and that filibustering would allow a minority a disproportionate amount of power ...

but therein lies the hypocrisy of their argument ...

if reports are accurate that only 8 Democrats are blocking a Democratic filibuster, their votes represent less than 20% of votes by Democrats on the issue of filibustering ... are they not, as a distinct minority, holding their own Party hostage?

in the end, I have to agree with Harry Reid that each of us, and them, should vote our own conscience ... still, it seems to me those who will not filibuster have consciences filled with contradictions ...

1. the straightforward reason I won't vote for them
if they do that is political inconsistency. Say what you mean, mean what you say, and let your actions speak for you.

2. If EIGHT Dems will not do the right thing and FILIBUSTER Alito...
Then there SHOULD be EIGHT Dems that do not get re-elected.

Nobody should EVER vote for a DINO.

3. It's This Political Maneuvering That Turns Voters Off
Because it's an action that needs too much explaining... and even when properly explained, it looks weak.

Some battles need to be fought even if you think you will lose.
