about katie’s 20mil to go to CBS - did anyone read andy roony’s column, jan9-ish, about this? it was great…in part: “…(what) a good guy like my boss, Les Moonves, will do…he’ll abandon the idea of getting Katie Kouric for $20 million and take that money and instead add it to the “Cbs Evening News” budget. that would bring the money they have to spend collecting news up closer to what it used to be when Walter Cronkite was the anchor 25 years ago…
“the CBS audience will be vastly better informed…and she’ll be proud of herself for staying where she is for a piddling little $14 million…viewers will be a better-educated group, and we can all hope these better-informed American voters will go to the polls in 2008 and elect a brilliant president who will lead us out of trouble.

2. please, please don't hire Couric

I have never liked her and I've never understood this "love" for her. She is annoying as hell and isn't worth $20 million. When Dan Rather was anchor, CBS was the only channel whose news I could tolerate. Now, I rarely watch any evening news but I'd pick Bob Scheiffer over the others.

how and when she plays the golden high school gal on the morning shows. Unfortunately, she just hasn't gotten beyond that role.
