We DON'T want Alito, but there is more at stake here. This really is about Us.
Fillibuster (successful or not) will be good because more Americans will take notice, talk to one another about the Constitution, and ask questions about the Constitution and the Unitary Executive. We shouldn't let Republicans portray Filibuster as Bad. Filibuster is Good for the People. Anyone who is against Filibuster is against the People.

7. The party has been divided for like 10 years |
|
Maybe open conflict (caused by a filibuster) would be for the best.

People have been saying for years that Democrats don't know what they stand for. At least if we can filibuster, we believed in something and proved it.

11. Our party has got to learn to work as a team. it will divide us only |
|
if we do not stand together on this and support each other. Ego's have got to be put aside for the good of the people and the party.

14. Look I want us to work together! |
|
It is the DLC and it's minions in congress that started this war and subsequent divide! Let's not blame the victim now! I would be more than happy to work with a Democratic OPPOSITION party not a DINO party to fight back the Republican Party. We're at a stage where I think we may have to start over again. That may mean a new party (if we can't clean house), or it might mean something even more extreme than that. But I'm through capitulating and staying in denial over this takeover of our representation in government.
The Democratic Party dies today if there is no fillibuster! Period!

17. Yes, I think it will be worse if we have a failed filibuster. |
|
I think this split will harm our chance to take back Congress in 06, which is the best way to get Bush impeached and start to reverse his crap.

18. I think you're probably |
|
right. I think a failed filibuster will split the Dems as everybody goes into finger-pointing and name-calling mode.
I also think it will hurt with the 'moderate' voters, as the Dems will look ineffective and disorganized.
On the other hand, it could be a big win in we won. You pays your money and you takes your choice, and suffer the consequences or claim the prize, as the case may be.

13. YES! This fillibuster (or not one) makes our primaries more important! |
|
It's time to look for some alternatives in the primary process. And I'm not just joking here! I'm going to be looking to find someone to replace Feinstein in June FOR SURE NOW, unless he comes to her senses and votes against cloture! Pure and SIMPLE!
