AFAIC, that means you carry as much weight as anybody. These people answering the phones are by now ticking off checkmarks in the yes or no column at this point, they are so overwhelmed.

Let's get everybody on board the filbuster train. :woohoo:

Recommended. Do not let them hang up on you if you are out of state.

We can help them if they vote the right way, we can harm their chances of getting reelected if they do not... even if we are out of state. Remind them of this.

IMO, this was exactly the right timing. We need to STAND AND FIGHT with Kerry and whoever supports him, because he is going to have THE ENTIRE MSM and half the "liberal" pundits eviscerating him. I can hear Carville now talking about what a misfire this is and how we should support someone less "ideological" like Hillary. :puke: :puke: :puke:

Either their DC offices or their local offices.... I'm going to send them a fax with great big letters:

PLEASE FILIBUSTER!!

And in smaller letters, reminding them of what someone else posted - that even though I'm from out-of-state, I can help or hurt their chances of getting re-elected next time.

67. Does a fax count?
Dear Senator Byrd:
You have my undying respect and gratitude for the many brave things you have done and stood for during your years in the Senate.

I now ask you to support the impending filibuster of the Alito nomination, and I would urge you to also finally vote against his noimination to the Supreme Court. I believe that Judge Alito presents a great threat to the rights of common Americans in the face of an increasingly authoritarian Federal government. His support of concepts such as the "Unitary Executive" is highly perturbing to me.
Thank you.
(Jackpine Radical)

74. Good letter.
Byrd will regret voting for Alito more than he ever regretted voting for Ashcroft.

Oh, that's right. You're one of those who will hate Kerry no matter what he does. :eyes:

Just keep stewing in your own juices while the rest of us fight. That'll show Kerry! :eyes:

82. Excuses, excuses. And yeah, like I'm not wanting a fight
which as usual might be coming too little too late from that quarter. The only way the fight will be won will be by other than such belated, while-out-of-the-country pronouncments from on-high, and that change in methodology needs to begin ASAP.

85. In the time that it took you to type that, you could have been calling
or faxing or emailing.

I am not offering excuses for Kerry and most certainly not for you.

I prefer to fight and whoever wants to stand beside me and fight is welcome. Now is not the time to whine about coulda, woulda, shoulda. Just because you don't like Kerry doesn't mean that we shouldn't support him or fight.

But whatever. I'm wasting time replying to you. There is too much to do besides engage in this defeatism and sour grapes.

86. On woulda coulda shoulda, yes it is time to do just that
As said at Salon re the belated Kerry effort

"If they had geared up from the start to stop Alito, the Dems might have at least won a political battle. Now they'll lose both ways"

better look at the way the way this was handled by Dems since the half-assed cautious way Kerry acted exemplifies what a track record of failure by the Kerry's and the Bidens and Obamas have made you an apologist for

70. Landrieau, leave a message. Byrd, mailbox full. Johnson, lines busy.
Salazar, I got through and told them, "The F word is a good word. Filibuster." Very nice staff member answered the phone.

I also called Wyden (Oregon) and gave his staff the same message that I gave him yesterday, to support a filibuster.

============================

Thanks for the phone numbers and the kick to keep this going. Don't forget to call a friend and ask them to call, too, and keep passing this on. It's now or never to save our Constitution.
