2. No shit
I don't think they really DO intelligence anymore.

They have people spying and bugging, sure, but they seem to be mostly spying on and bugging their political opponents.

Besides, if the official White House policy was that Fatah would win the election, they probably aren't allowed to present counter views at briefings.

5. They didn't even have a Plan B?
There were only two parties involved: Fatah and Hamas. And you mean that they never gave a thought that Hamas might win?

That's just stupid.

At one time, such incompetence from the White House would have surprised me.

I went to bed last night with Fatah in the lead and then a surprise victory for Hamas, where has that happened before? Bush needs terra on the front burner that means Hamas in power.

10. After the last 5 years I have come to believe that the simple answer
that jr is taken by surprise by everything and everything is as it seems or worse is probably right. Otherwise, it's a big stretch to think that he and the others are smart enough to manipulate any of this in the shadows, it would be showing them respect they haven't earned.

8. It's never their fault and intelligence is always bad
NO EXCUSE! If they can't see the difference between good and bad intelligence, then they shouldn't be president. Yes, I meant they. Collectively they aren't even competent enough to be president!

and commonsense. They would of course experience shock, but who cares.

14. dobbs is incompetent too
that freaking jackass has sat there for years watching a duly elected prez harassed beyond belief by his pals then this unelected joker take the country down to bananapeel republic status-35 years ago i recall reading in the alternative press somewhere that 'in the future, villains will be heroes and heroes will be villains' and; well on cbc radio today i heard some dense old fool lady say she liked bush cuz 'he's 'a good honest hard working family man'
the senile fukker don't even know bush aint a man, he's a goddam chimp!....that's why busheviks insist on 'intelligent design'...they can hardly admit that bush is evolved since he seems not to have, can they?

If you piss people off enough they are going to vote for the craziest, nastiest SOBs they can find.

Democracy is on the march in the Middle East--only we don't like the results.
