4. Hear, hear!!!!
True Christians don't support an Administration that encourages torture, guts gov't programs aimed at assisting the poor, aligns their policies with enriching the already wealthy and/or corporations to the detriment of the middle-class or working poor, designs Medicare rules that deprive the sick of life-saving medication, ignore the victims of natural disasters (Katrina), et cetera.

It's time for REAL CHRISTIANS to set the record straight!

22. Check out these groups
Christian Alliance (progressive group)- http://www.christianalliance.org

SoJourners- http://www.sojo.net (The group earlier this year were arrested at the Captiol for protesting the Bush policies on how they've hurt the poor. Jim Wallis is great and he's appeared on the Majority Report and has a great book out called "God's Politics: How the Right gets it wrong and the left doesn't get it" )

6. If that makes other Christians feel better then I will.
Although I have been careful to label them the fundie Christian right, I can change to neo-Christian if the definition is more precise.

8. 'Religionists' works pretty well
I gave up 'Chrisianist' for 'Xionist', as there's no 'Christ' about them.
Fascist always works.

I used to go to church but the hypocricy of the church today has driven me away. I havent been back for ten years. If I need spirituality Ill go fishing or hiking in the woods.

23. You could find another one if you still want

There are still good churches. My church isn't political and my preacher hasn't ever given political speeches from the pulpit. He's only mentioned politics once and once was on the fourth of July to say thank you to veterans in the audience and another time was why we have to be left and right and not just work on becoming a better country for God etc (just like economy and stuff) and how we're lucky in our country for religious freedoms compared to other countries. So there are still good churches out there. :)

16. Yeah. I could go with "neocrap freaks" -- no problem.
"Stalinist assholes" works pretty well, too.

Jim Dobson and his ilk are among the most dangerous, xenophobic, anti-intellectual, and decidedly unspiritual people on the face of this earth.

17. This is great--it's so important to come up with an appropriate term
The transformation of "domestic eavesdropping" into "terrorist surveillance" is a good example of the importance of labels.

It took "neo-con" a while to catch on in the media, it seems to me--I only ever saw it here--but now, finally, it's used to distinguish the extremists from the real Republicans; I hear it in the corporate media all the time.

Now that the neo-Christians have become so powerful and so bad, I think it's very important to popularize this label for them. The difference between neo-Christians and real Christians (or between them and anybody of any religion or moral code) is so vast, and yet for lack of a better term they keep getting labeled as just plain Christian, which sounds so innocuous, even virtuous.

Wonderful idea!

They definitely are not Christians. Jesus must be horrified at the things they do in His name.
