Zell Miller apologizes for past views on abortion
By Greg Bluestein
ASSOCIATED PRESS
ATLANTA - Thousands of anti-abortion advocates lined up outside the Capitol on Monday and heard a remorseful former U.S. Sen. Zell Miller apologize for his tardiness in supporting their cause.
"I'm more than one year late here. I'm several years late being here," said Miller, a former governor. "All those years you were out here, and I was in there," he said, pointing at the Gold Dome with a shake of his head.
The demonstrators converge on the state Capitol each year on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the controversial Supreme Court decision that legalized abortions 33 years ago.
Police said between 3,500 and 4,500 activists showed up on the dreary Monday morning, many clutching rain-soaked umbrellas along with their campaign signs.

9. Yeah, me too (AND Senator)
but he seemed reasonable compared to the alternative at the time...oh, well.

(And as an aside, I heard a rumour that Zell has basically gone mad because he's had surgery for prostate cancer that left him inmpotent, incompetent, and in need of adult diapers, and the effect on his personality has been, shall we say, not good. Not sure if I believe it, but the image of him unable to get it up and pissing himself DOES kind of warm the heart, no?)

18. But there was a special election in 2000...
to elect him to serve the remainder of Coverdell's term. I voted for him (as part of a straight Democratic ticket).

6. I don't get this guy at all..
I'm seriously not sure if he just hates himself, is getting senile, or is just a garden-variety nut.

Next, he'll be apologizing to all those barnyard animals he porked back on the farm.

I think it was SNL who parodied him as "Former Senator and Escaped Mental Patient Zell Miller".

:wtf:

17. He's not an office holder, who the hell cares what he says he is?
Unless you're a delusional Republican who thinks that anyone really considers Zell to be a "democrat" any more.

As to apologizing about abortion, the only apology he need make is that his mamma didn't have one. What a creep.

19. I could *almost* feel sorry for him
(but I don't cause he is not worthy of it) for belonging 'hook, line & sinker' to them and selling your soul. It must be difficult to continue to have to live with yourself when you have no guts or self respect to and have an opinion of your own on anything. :-(

would like to reap a portion of the whacko anti-abortion bonanza.

26. Well, at least I'll never have to hesitate when asked who do I most...
...regret ever voting for, Zell will forever be that politician.

I have a rule here in Georgia: Never vote for someone with a "ol' boy" nickname (in quotes in the middle of his name), I guess I'll have to expand my rule to include strange "old South" names, like Zell or Burl or whatever, too.
