We just saw Sen. John Edwards give the most inspiring speech!
He spoke on campus here, as part of a series on the call to public service.

AMAZING!

First, it was a packed house, which for rural Ohio is extraordinary for a Democratic figure. Edwards spoe eloquently on the problems of poverty in the US andf around the world, and what the average person can do about it. He spoke about the drive for americans to lead in progressive causes like fighting poverty and raising the satndard of living. He came out against keeping the minimum wage at its present state. Wonderful ideas too-like having a national advanced education program that will pay tuition and expenses for anyone willing to work at least 10 hours a week through school. He got some tough questions that he handled well, like will the Democratic party get a spine (he said he'd rather back someone who took a stand than someone who checks polls to decide what he should support), and how do we fight poverty being driven by outsourcing (again, advance higher education, also expand the Earned Income Credit and increase tarriffs on China and India). He also publically stated that he was wrong on the IWR vote, and that it was impossible to hold a position of moral leadership if it is based on lies.

He got 3 standing ovations! Powerful speech! After watching Bush piss-ass his way through so many speeches it was refreshing to see someone that actually filled a suit!

1. I've always been very moved by his speeches
From the first one I saw, I was beaming from ear to ear. Not sure how long I was doing it, but my wife walked in and said "what are you smiling at?" That's when I realized I was doing it and it had to have been a while because my cheeks hurt.

4. I was in Portsmouth, Ohio during the last Presidential campaign

and he gave a terrific speech then - so much good energy - they played "Johnny B. Goode" by Chuck Berry as
he took the stage. God, that was when our hopes were so high. Seems like a million years ago.

7. Edwards is good. But, I believe that Gore has more strength as
a candidate. Edwards can't match him in experience. We also have other good Democrats that would do well on the ticket.

8. I like Edwards, always have, but. . .
I have trouble trusting anyone who was a part of the last Bildeberger summit in Italy.

11. No, read it AGAIN
It's a WASHINGTON TIMES article-says so right at the top. You, know-the Washington Times, run by Sun Myung Moon, the man who just had himself crowned as Savior of the Universe?

And World Net Daily? Could you find a more biased site than that? If you buy into these articles from these sites, you're being misled.

Sorry. way too suspect for me to consider as proof. Try again.

13. I do remember reading about that
That he went and the next day Kerry announced him as his running mate and Kerry had someone else in mind. I still think they were great together either way and would've loved for them to be in the House now. :( I'll always be proud I voted for him and Kerry on my first vote.

I'm glad to hear him still out and about doing speeches. Did he say how Elizabeth is doing?
