"Bring the Noise" on Jan. 31st........
There will be nationwide demonstrations on Jan. 31st, 2006, to protest the chimp's SOTU speech. It is being organized by "worldcantwait.org" who have done a great job in my city promoting these events.

You are encouraged to bring pots and pans and whistles and noisemakers of your choice to symbolically drown out the chimp's lies.

Here is a list of locations. Find one near you, or start one near you. It'll be therapeutic to yell your ass off at the chimp.

Hope to see all you DUers at these events.

ps. They are also organizing a massive demonstration in Washington DC on Feb. 4th.

Consider showing up to show your opposition to this criminal regime. Time to take it to the streets.

3. At the risk of getting flamed...
...this sort of display reminds me of the behavior for which we ridiculed Janet Parshall, when she and Randi Rhodes debated. What about delivering a simultaneous address of our own, or boycotting the advertisers whose commercials appear immediately before and after the speech? Isn't there a more meaningful way to protest?

Don't misunderstand. I feel the same frustration and outrage as eveyone else here. I just fear that this will be spun to our disadvantage.

4. We can do those things too, Fridays Child......
And I'm not concerned about anybody's spin. If there are no demonstrations, they'll "spin" that there is no opposition.

Here is what it looked like when the chimp came to my town last time.

There is something dynamic about a public demonstration. You feel the energy of kindred spirits. You sense the committment to the cause. Whoever shows up cared enough to re-arrange their lives and SHOW UP to PUBLICLY voice their opposition. It's an active thing, do not minimize the effectiveness.

I personally think it makes a difference to passersby that either honk their horn or flip the bird. They have the issues put in their face. Some may feel the same as we do, but don't have any idea there's organizations dedicated to protesting the wrongs. We give them hope and an outlet. We also disseminate information.

Don't worry about being flamed. We are all on the same side here, we just express our outrage differently. O8)
