two or three.......including one woman who has voted straight republican for most of her 59 years, and a guy who is so peeved at Bush he has apologized for treating me so badly during the last election......badly enough that I've not spoken to him in a couple of years.
They're out there. Mind you, the "good Germans" are out there too.......

|
seems to be accelerating, becoming more naked and brazen with each passing day and each press conference.

3. A male republican coworker |
|
actually said he has doubts whether W is using wisdom or just thinks he's above the law and Constitution.
My coworker was dead serious and this was not an easy admission for him to make.

5. Does this not BOTHER him? Does he in any way regret voting for |

a guy who appears to be seizing tyrant powers?
I half expect the dude to show up to the SOTU speech wearing a freaking crown, surrounded by a guard of soldiers wearing the "W" logo instead of the U.S. flag on their uniforms.

13. My Coworker does hold the Constitution as sacred |
|
That is his big concern. He also never discusses the Iraqi situation anymore.
I have found in my experiences that most Americans treasure and value the Constitution and don't want it violated.

Sadly, most of my family is totally brainwashed by TV Preachers and they cannot wait to establish Christian Reconstructionism.

all old school republicans.. the fiscal conservative.. social libertarian types. They think Bush is a fascist pig who has destroyed the republican party with his crooked cronies & their crimes. Most of all they are horrified by all of the "Gott Mit Uns" rhetoric of the reich... this faux christian shit really disturbs them.
Hope there are more sensible repubs out there.

Next pres might not be a Repug. Do they really want Hillary wiretapping? Or Feingold? Or Dean?
Fat chance.
Regardless of what they might hope for there willnot be an endless Republican majority.
Think about it Freepers... Do you really want the Feds investigating YOUR protests when the next Dem is pres?

i know two kinds of republicans--the ones who are republican because of belief in smaller government, fiscal policy, etc., and the religious, socially conservative types. the former type are already mad at him for the deficit and spending, but they consider the democrats worse, which is why they have held on with bush for so long. lately i have heard at least a couple of these types say that they are getting near the point of no return with bush, because of the spying/detention/torture/overreach of power issues.
the religious types are unmoved. they work out of ideology, and most of them have no theory or concept of how government should function, beyond their litmus test issues. i heard one of them say she'll always vote for the guy who kills the least babies. and no, she wasn't interested in iraqi babies.

They ignore Bush's dangerous moves and fall for all the sideshow stuff. They bitch that Alito should be left alone and all being Catholic they like that five of the SCOTUS justices are Catholic. They can't wait until abortion is out. They fell for teary Mrs. Alito. They still talk about how Gore tried to steal Election 2000 and Katherine Harris is a hero. The Dems beat on her just like the Alito lady they say.
