Looking for certain quote by "brownie" re: ice for beers? |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-27-06 12:26 AM by freeplessinseattle
anyone remember this from his hearing soon after Katrina? he said something along the lines of "why did those people need ice to keep their beer and pepsi cold". I know I remember reading this, it sounds so absurd but he is a total pr---.
*btw, I did search but didn't find anything and am too impatient to wait for advanced search to be available again.

1. I don't think this was Brownie - this was a debunked winger email |
|
I'm fairly certain on this, because the bit on "beer and pepsi" rang a bell.
FWIW . . .

4. Congressman Taylor put him through the wringer |

Congressman Taylor: I think we’re having a really serious disconnect and I think I’m really beginning to realize why you were removed from this job. What else was that ice used for?
Michael Brown: Ice should be used for life-saving to keep baby formula fresh and for medications. That’s what FEMA…
Congressman Taylor: How about keeping the dead corpse from rotting in the…
Michael Brown: You can’t use it to keep hamburger meat fresh because you can’t cook the hamburger meat. That’s why we say have provisions for two or three days of non-perishable items. I think that it is wrong for the federal government to be in the ice business providing ice to keep beer and a Diet Coke cool.

I read it at the time and couldn't believe my own eyeballs. If that had been a Democrat, it would have played 100 times a day.

10. "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job," |
|
That's the other line that should have been played over, and over again.

|
to keep people alive you idiot, not just to keep hamburger fresh (but they couldn't cook it anyway!). It was HOT there you moran. "Have you ever been through a hurricane?" "no". To keep bodies from rotting too, but more important to keep people cool enough to continue to be alive.
