Another "law abiding gun owner" of the sort we're constantly told by Republicans is harmless....

"Del. John S. "Jack" Reid had gone through this morning routine dozens of times. He'd reach into his pocket, pull out his small semiautomatic .380 handgun, release the clip and store the weapon safely in the desk drawer of his office on the seventh floor of the Virginia General Assembly Building.
But something went wrong Thursday. Reid's pistol, which he said he carries for protection, fired as he popped the clip from the handle, sending a single bullet into the cushion of a bulletproof vest that was hanging from the back of his closed office door.
No one was injured, although Reid said he suffered a cut on his hand from the friction of the gun's slide snapping back."

Yeah, he just happened to accidentally shoot his gun into the bulletproof vest....THAT's believable.

1. When I saw your topic line I was thinking along a different line
Keying on the Only GOP Lawmakers will have accidents lead me to think that the story was about what will happen to the repukes WHEN they try to take away the guns. They will have accidents and not from their own weapons.

Scary story, why in the hell was he allowed to have a gun in a government building in the first place.

I don't believe him either.

3. GOP Congresscritter Hostelter tried to take a gun on a plane
a couple years ago....

"what will happen to the repukes WHEN they try to take away the guns"
They're not going to do that--the GOP depends on blood money and public flatulence from the gun lobby.

2. What Do Republican Lawmakers Have to Fear?
Rhetorical question of course. Yes, guilt and a bit of paranoia is a symptom readily available in mainly GOP circles. "We gottta fight them there, so we don't have to..... fight them at all."

Chickenhawk paranoids... the biggest wusses around.

4. Being mistaken for sane people?
By the way, this is an apt illustration of why the sort of neurotic who claims he needs to tote a gun because he distrusts his fellow citizens ought not to be trusted with a gun....

5. I Know... too True
That's why I don't hang around with gun nutters no more. Used to, and man were they all messed up, scared and ignorant to the world around them. I see this mainly OUTSIDE of a city, where you'd think more people had guns and wanted guns to protect themselves. But over time, having a gun in a congested residential area usually costs innocent lives.

It just isn't worth the risk to innocent human life afterall. Living in the city also toughens you up a bit more and makes you deal with people, rather than just scare them away from you.

6. Exactly so....
I've never met one in real life who wasn't crazy as a shithouse rat...and I've never encountered one online who made me think "Gee, there's the sort of responsible adult I trust."

And of course, in the real world, gun rights is shorthand for plain old fashioned dittohead craziness and racism and the gun loonies are the scum of the earth...despite the claims of some on this forum that the issue must only be discussed on some aetherial plane of idealized hooey.
