God's Senator -Who would Jesus vote for? Meet Sam Brownback
THIS guy is a lunatic:

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/9178374/gods_senator/

snip-

He tells a story about a chaplain who challenged a group of senators to reconsider their conception of democracy. "How many constituents do you have?" the chaplain asked. The senators answered: 4 million, 9 million, 12 million. "May I suggest," the chaplain replied, "that you have only one constituent?"

Brownback pauses. That moment, he declares, changed his life. "This" -- being senator, running for president, waving the flag of a Christian nation -- "is about serving one constituent." He raises a hand and points above him.

From the balcony a hallelujah, an amen, a yelp. From Bredesen's great white head, now peering up from the front row, Brownback wins an appreciative nod.

Yep, the constituency of 1, not us but a mythical person, that he, and others like him get to pick and choose what parts of the philosophy they will follow.

2. Did that bolt of lightning get you?
Or was that not thunder, but the resounding splat of a gigantic meatball?

3. Ego Inflation. Messiah Complex. "God" Intoxication.
It is right that indivisuals should live their lives learning the truth of his/her relationship to the Ultimate Truth/God. But that relationship is UNIQUE, and, at least in my case, Private. Because it is Unique it is NOT to be inflicted on Others; others need to identify their own Unique relationships to God anything else would be False, no matter how holy it may seem.

I live in Kansas. It's sad, there seem to be an awful lot of people around the Republicans inflicting themselves on others when they themselves are relatively inexperienced novices when it comes to theology, ethics, and philosophy, just started thinking about this kind of stuff relatively recently compared to some of us who have thought about it all of our lives. And yet these spiritual/psychological babies, because they feel whatever STRONGLY, they assume that gives them the right, nay the DUTY, to violate the spiritual growth of others.

TAX THE CHURCH CARTELS.

6. Thanks.
Also, many of them with relatively shallow educations in the Humanities and Liberal Arts. And yet they assume they know and understand enough to deliver "moral" Absolutes.

5. LET ME CLARIFY
Edited on Fri Jan-27-06 06:40 PM by Jeffersons Ghost
Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

By the way happy holidays to all you DU pagans... oops I'm heading for a celebration at UU Church with our pagan chapter of CUPS... don't let um bully you diver dave... post it as you see it! nice to meet you!

Jesus didn't endorse war or hating other races or religions... He was the Prince of Peace and wanted to take care of the sick, poor and elderly like the Democratic Party... Christ would endorse National Health Care and basic freedom for all humanity. He said, "give ALL you possess to the poor and come follow me." Did you hear that all you rich TV hypocrites???
