What happened that shrub is suddenly giving "press conferences" and
taking actual questions, even though he lies and fumbles through it and still dodges Helen Thomas?

Could it be that he feels the actual need to address the concerns the spying issue raises about his illegit power grab?

And will he start showing up for these things wearing a crown?

1. Perhaps they're throwing him to the wolves
Presidents are expendable. Or maybe they think his stupidity will be a distraction.

5. Maybe it's the old legacy issue
He's such a dumbass but he's figured out (unless he goes for the crown) he's only got three years left. And well.. he wants to go down in history as the good, reasonable man he is. He'll say nice things from now on..meanwhile the usual hatchet men and all the lackeys will destroy destroy destroy. Did you hear the one about if you are anti-Iraq war you are just like Bin Laden? But that's not Mr. Bush oh no no. Don't blame him-he's a nice guy, really.

7. Haven't you noticed? He always does a press con or a "big" speech whenever
Kerry is scheduled for a senate floor speech or a major policy speech. He's been doing it for over a year.

11. The Campaigner In Chief (Thief) can only campaign.
Personal attacks, smearing, push polling, staged events with selected audiences, propaganda catapulted to the press, real issues ignored, 9/11, War On Terror, Osama Saddam, dehumanizing political opponents, swift boat lie and smear squad, etc. etc. etc. 9/11 again.

Governing requires too much 'hard work.' Another vacation is due at the fake ranch, then back to the campaign trail to destroy his political opposition/terrorist.

12. then Sen. Kerry should try to do them every day
Kerry's a smart involved guy and a senator, he should have no problem expounding on any number of topics at will.

I'd love to see bush squirming around, trying to keep up the PR image on a daily basis. Of course there's always the chance that he would learn how to speechify at some point, but it hasn't happened after five years so I think we're safe on that front.

9. Yeah but he doesn't have to take questions in SOTU, seems like this
wouldn't be appropriate "practice".

10. He's tanking SO bad as a president and so many have lost TRUST...
...that he's got nothing else TO do. If he doesn't gain some of that trust back then the chorus of impeachment will grow stronger and stronger until he is removed from office.

As an aside, he never really seemed to be "into it" as a president- which is the sharpest commentary that can ever be levelled at a president. No, I'm wrong on that- that's the only barb I have time for..

He's still not up for the job by a longshot so I think he's eventually going to give up on all that "hard work" and eventually climb under the rug- or help us push him under the rug (a rug with bars and adult supervision 24/7, hopefully).

catapult the propaganda because some of the Amerikan folk are starting to smell the BS that the Neo Fascists have been flinging for the past five years.
